Yes, ventilation is the most important thing. In addition to keeping windows open and fans going where possible, they're going to be completely airing out the gym after every hour of use and sanitizing all the equipment.

I won't be going back to my gym as I have my own now. As an older person, it's extremely important to maintain muscle mass as much as possible. And strength training, like cardio, boosts your immune system, which in times like this comes in real handy.

Body weight exercises don't motivate me at all. I need the free weights, heavy with low to medium reps. Neither motivated by peer pressure at gyms either. In fact I don't even like being around people when I'm working out. But it's great for people that need that motivation.

I like being around other people in races but I don't like other people around when I'm lifting unless they're pretty girls.

Yeah I just find it hard to motivate myself to go to distances past 20 miles in running without crowd support and the emotional lift of being around other people doing the same thing.

Yeah I love the big races and crowds. Unfortunately they'll be the last thing to come back.

But I've read that the real danger outside is prolonged close contact. During the race itself that won't be an issue. But getting to the race, public transport, spectators, waiting in the corrals, etc, that will be a problem. Not looking good for 2020, unless it's a trail race perhaps.

My summer trail marathon which is generally 30- people was canceled 2 weeks ago, guessing too many people signed up and they thought it was too risky. I think in the future, people are either going to have to carry their own nutrition (I think an alternative here could be GIVE runners the free nutrition before the race starts) or they'll have to do without. Water in longer races for people who don't carry it like me will definitely be interesting. Contact is always an issue in the medium to large size races, in large part due to people who don't seem to understand there's a certain amount of space you should leave between yourself and other people. Also I think now in races past a certain size, directors need to ban all on-course selfies.

Dumbbells and kettle bells, for instance, “are high-touch metal, with strange shapes and many different places people can grasp,” says Dr. Deverick Anderson, a professor of medicine and director of the Duke Center for Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. His group consults with the National Football League and other sports teams about infection control. “They are not easy to clean.”

In consequence, “people are going to have to understand and accept that there will be some risk” of virus transmission, if and when they revisit their gyms, Dr. Anderson says.

But appropriate distancing during indoor aerobic exercise remains problematic, says Bert Blocken, a professor of civil engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands and KU Leuven in Belgium. Dr. Blocken, who studies airflow in buildings and around bodies, says exercisers breathe heavily and produce many respiratory droplets, and with no wind or forward momentum to shift and disperse these droplets, they could linger and drop inside the facility.

“Therefore,” he says, “it is very important to have a well-ventilated gym,” preferably using a system that constantly refreshes inside air with filtered air from outside. If your gym does not have such a system, expect, at minimum, “peak natural ventilation” — meaning wide-open windows on opposite walls — to help move air from inside out, he says.

I spent my stimulus check on buying gym equipment (treadmill, weight machine, rowing machine, spin bike etc.) so no more gyms for me.

I’ve never been a gym guy. I’ve always been a runner/cyclist for my exercise, but there are so many people that use gyms. I really hope people follow the guidelines.

I need water excersizes.
That way I can do stuff and not have my back scream at me as much.

not at all

1) if someone has Covid-19, his lungs only work at 90%, so some of the blood leaves the lungs with CO2 instead 0of O2, his heart starts beating faster to bring the O2 needed to the rest of his body and over working the heart causes a heart attack. If he did not have Covid-19 his heart would not be beating harder and he would not have had a heart attack so IMHO it needs to be ascribed to the cause and

2) Belgium is the country with the most laxed criteria for count of Covid-19 deaths. Some people (not every one) think it is too laxed and there is the possibility of someone being counted where Covid-19 did not play an vital role in the death. But even there no expert is questioning if the count would be over by a significant amount. The biggest criticism is that it can be too honest.

Equally in Montreal being the 7th worst area. Is it really? For me, it's a clear case of the blatant disregard for decades the government had for public and private long term health care facilities. Since I live next to Montreal and go into it every weekend for groceries, I can say that people in general respect the guidelines fairly well. Unsanitary facilities which I had been to several as my grandmother several years ago was in deteriorating health and constantly moved from one ****hole to the next caused it to be a hotspot of sorts. I can only hope that once this pandemic winds down that it isn't more empty government promises to have far stricter guidelines at these facilities.
I agree what has happened in our nursing homes is despicable and once this is all said and done I hope the gouvernment will do something about it. But I disagree with everything else no matter how much Legault tries to put lipstick on this pig.

1) look at the stats
https://www.quebec.ca/en/health/heal...rus-in-quebec/
as of yesterday there were 21,717 cases on the island and 42,920 in Quebec
on the other for all of Quebec public nursing homes=2,476 and private 1,195 there are a lot more Montrealer's outside of nursing homes with COVID-19 then there are people with COVID-19 in nursing homes in all of Quebec.

2) At least two of the nursing homes that got infected happened when family members (who I am guessing did not know they had COVID-19) visited after there was a lock down on visits to the elderly.

3) I live in Brossard and so have not been on the island since the lock down. But for the first three weeks I would go for walks around here but I stopped just because no one else around would keep their distance, also there would always be a bunch of kids playing basketball in court in the park here.

4) I have not been to parks on the island, but there is enough pics out there to know what they are like. (did not look as bad as New York, but people are not really keeping their distance here either.

Here's a good article on the economic impact on race cancellations, and possible future restrictions.

It should not happen on any weekend. People need to forget summer this year. No beach, no going away, no chilling in the park, etc.. This year, people should focus on one thing... staying home and surviving! I'm tired of hearing people say that they are tired of being indoors and want to live their life. Aw poor thing, because those of us that are actually cooping ourselves inside are enjoying it.
