Let's face it, many people just don't want to wear gloves or masks, we've seen that sentiment expressed in this very thread. Some people probably don't even frequently wash their hands. A lot people are just stubborn, look at these measures as unnecessary, an inconvenience, unfashionable looking, not important or whatever other reason, or simply just don't care.

It wouldn't surprise me too much, after all this. At least to get into certain venues that are high risk. New York is already begging people to get tested, as they apparently have more testing capacity than people willing to get tested.

Well if it’s the standard test that tells you if you have it then all the testing will tell you is if you had it at the time you were tested. You could get a negative result today, go shopping tomorrow and catch it from somebody, so such a scheme wouldn’t be very effective other than to confirm that on such a date you tested negative.

You'll now have to submit a DNA sample to enter any public building, store, restaurant etc.

That's sorta why I got mine done. Never know if, when work comes back, they'll ask for a test showing you have the antibodies.

However, with how the tests are so wildly unreliable, it won't mean much.

If this is what the new normal will be for dining out, I think I'll continue staying home, thank you. Watch the video.

I was reading last week that they're claiming to have a new antibody test that is 100% accurate but will not be available for the general public for a while yet. Currently it will only be available for those in high-risk positions/front-line medical workers, etc.

Hopefully that test will end up being the standard we all use at some point soon, if it's indeed 100% accurate as they claim.

An antibody test with 100% accuracy is obviously going to be huge when it becomes available on a wide scale.

Also the 15 minute test for covid 19 will make a big difference in getting many things closer to normal. Although it has a 15% false negative rate, I believe it's because there isn't enough of the virus yet accumulated in the person to pick it up. So the real benefit would be testing for infectiousness. So lots of positive developments and it's just a matter of waiting for them to bear fruit.

Coronavirus will never be eradicated and is 'almost uncontrollable', top scientist warns

Quote:
“It is so transmissible, it’s so successful, we’re so susceptible, that actually it’s a little bit of a red herring to worry about it getting worse, because it couldn’t be much worse at the moment in terms of the numbers of cases,” Prof Robertson said.
Quote:
He added: “If you contrast with Ebola, which has very high virulence, kills many, many people, it makes it very controllable and you can very readily identify the infected people.

“Whereas this virus is infecting so many people with asymptomatic to mild symptoms that it’s almost uncontrollable.

“I think we have to be clear that we’re not going to be able to eradicate this virus.

“It’s going to settle into the human population and in several years it will become a normal virus.”

Ousted Designer Of Florida’s COVID-19 Dashboard Says She Was Asked To Censor Data

I guess we can't even trust the official numbers we are seeing. As if miscounting isn't bad enough due to the difficulty in tracking cases accurately, we have things like this to add to it.

Quote:
The Florida official in charge of designing and managing the state’s online dashboard of COVID-19 data says she was fired after refusing to censor and “manually change data” in order to present a picture justifying the state’s process of reopening and loosening COVID-19 restrictions.
Quote:
On Monday, Jones told Florida’s CBS12 that her departure, effective May 5, was “not voluntary,” saying she was dismissed after refusing to “manually change data to drum up support for the plan to reopen.”

The best way to tell is how fast it acts. The Coronavirus develops slowly, hence the two week incubation period. A cold or flu just hits you one day and there's those few days where suddenly you feel like complete garbage. The Coronavirus is not sudden. It's very gradual. And the recovery time is much longer too.

At least, that's what I've heard. I'm no doctor, so I could be wrong.

It is weird to think if this were more deadly and had a much higher fatality rate we'd probably be a lot closer to all this being "over"

All countries should have COMPLETELY closed their borders the minute we heard about this virus. Now that it's all over the world, there's no way to stop it.

I'm really hoping that we can come up with a vaccine that will end this, but then again, with the length of time it takes, a new strain would probably develop by the time a vaccine does come out.

If we could do it over again, even knowing what we know now, I'm not convinced that people won't be clamoring to keep borders open lest we "destroy the economy." Then we never would shut down to begin with, because "it wasn't so bad."

Contagion had something like this, those who took the vaccine for that movie's plague virus having to wear a hospital-style plastic wrist strap with a barcode on in that could be scanned to prove they were "clean". I'd be willing to put up with that for a year or two while going out when a vaccine is eventually available.

That's wholly incorrect. The virus can be in you and you never know it/develop symptoms. The virus can also be in you and hasn't started attacking anything yet. The people that I know who have come back with a positive diagnosis absolutely "suddenly" felt like hell. One worked that morning/afternoon and felt completely fine. Then, suddenly, that night felt like complete Hell.
