Seems like the meat sections are running empty now. Went to Walmart and there were only like 10 tubes of hamburger left.. nothing else whatsover.

Gov. Cuomo is holding his news conference at the beach right now. Your state leaders are reopening the state.

They cancelled the 4th of July parade here and everyone was commented "ruin our entire summer why don't you"

No word yet on the carnival that comes into town. Their website still says coming to our town in 4 days?

In the UK Boris Johnson has finally come out of hiding to express his support of Cummings. People are not happy at all, this could have dangerous consequences.

there are almost 350k official deaths in a few months, which is only the tip of that iceberg.

It appears (for now) for some people this could be a big nothing but it is not just those two extremes

some people will need months of hospitalization
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ht/3114917001/

others can lose limbs
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamil...ions-1.5542217

there are many that don't require hospitalization but even then it does not necessarily mean a walk from the park and it can mean not feeling well for months (and possibly for ever)

You can tell me i'm "Not getting it" but maybe we're just viewing things from a different perspective. That BBC article also stated two of them didn't even get officially tested so how can they then lump that experience of 2 individuals into an article about COVID-19 on the "probability" it is. They're supposed to be dealing in FACTS. Not just assumptions however "like" they could be to something.

Plus, the data again suggests these cases aren't for the majority

People are going to have to face the fact that this summer is going to be pretty much ruined. Expect to spend the whole summer wearing a mask and only going out for essential purposes.

A Missouri hairstylist who had COVID-19 symptoms and tested positive for the disease served 84 clients over eight days earlier this month, a county health department said Friday.

On Saturday, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department announced that a second hairstylist at the salon tested positive for COVID-19. The person reportedly worked five days while experiencing mild symptoms, potentially exposing 56 clients to the virus.

With the second confirmed case, the total number of clients who were potentially exposed to the virus at the salon is 140.

Plenty of steak at my local Stop & Shop. Avoid Wal-Mart when possible - too crowded anyways and they seem to be having trouble with stock (though a few weeks back my Wal-mart had a good supply of several brands of bathroom tissue).

It's getting expensive though - Wal-Mart is definitely cheaper. We're spending more at Stop & Shop.

first of all can you show me what data you are working with that shows anything other then death/sick/ recovered? (not being factious, just have not heard of any source that shows # deaths, # ICU, # hospitalization, # very sick at home.... # of asymptotic)

But let's be honest, does it matter? my friend was middle aged, in good health, athletic but ended up being one of the minorities that passed away from this. None of us know what effect it will have on us or our loved ones unless we have gone through it. and from the few people that I know that have gone through it I don't wish it even on my worst enemies.

Tbh, it'd be interesting to see of those 140 potential people, how many actually caught it. Things like that give us data so we can quantify things. Also extremely bad of them to work knowing they have symptoms but part of me understands how some are put between a rock and hard place financially which forces them to take such risks unfortunately.

First off, very sorry to hear about your friend and my condolences on losing them.

I'm just going by data i'm seeing out there on the main sources releasing the data is all. BBC etc. and i don't want anybody to think i'm trying to undermine the severity of COVID-19 in its ability to result in death for some, however i think there's been some failings by countries in their response to dealing with it. Right now however i understand the logic they've gone with is to "Lock it all down, save as many as we can and flatten the curve as quickly as possible" and i don't for one second disagree saving lives is important and #1 as a priority over money and so on. However, at the same time i'm look at certain sides of this and the long term economic impacts people will suffer as a result of maybe not having a slightly more pragmatic approach imo.

Right now the assumptions that if we let everybody out and doing things like we used to, cases will spike and we will get more deaths. My personal thinking was atm we locked everybody up in the UK for example in their homes and they leave for minimal contact with others except maybe in supermarkets and so on. Yet, we're told the virus kind of dies off after a few weeks or you get past the symptoms and "back to normal". So my logic was, well if everybody is locked up for as long as we have been, why would COVID-19 cases spike? Shouldn't the virus effectively be killed off in isolation?

I understand the theory is that some may have it and be asymptomatic which is why i was thinking the whole physical distancing aspects of the guidelines could remain and facemasks but how practical is it to go restaurants and use facemasks too right?

I think i'd like to see as many people get to the end of the light in the tunnel as safely as possible and we all can agree on that

I just went outside and the streets near me are one big bar crawl. People just standing on the sidewalk, drinking and chatting.
