Look, my position is that if its forced onto us as a mandatory thing, i'd end up complying but not because i really wanted to but because wearing a mask is a minor inconvenience at best to me in order to access different things i need or want to.

I'm not advocating people rip off their mandatory ordered mask wearing and go spitting at people in the eye wearing them as a protest. I'm just saying, where its not compulsory to wear a mask, i'm not going to out of choice and if i fall ill, i'd isolate till my symptoms abate. The funny thing in all this is a simple sneeze makes people look at you like a murderer now whereas people wouldn't bat an eyelid and probably even say "Bless You". Now they lool at you like you deserve death

What's freaking people out are the number of new reported cases being blared by CNN on a daily basis but what people still haven't grasped is that testing positive is NOT an automatic death sentence. There will probably be 500,000+ positive cases by the time this hits a peak - scary number, right? Out of that, even 50,000 deaths in the US seems unlikely.
^ The latter comment has not at all aged well.

I don't blame people for being irritated at people sneezing, coughing, etc. without a mask on. People choosing not to wear a mask are choosing to risk infecting and potentially killing other people. Non-mask wearers are choosing to be selfish, so yeah, expect some dirty looks.

I mean a "normal" sneeze like if it was dust or something similar or even if it was a small cough. Everybody is just so on edge about it when before lockdown nobody would have batted an eyelid because its just something the body can have as a natural reaction to things, not necessarily COVID-19 being the cause yet we now have people who immediately assume you're infecting them etc. just like your post is a great example of that knee jerk assumption. Take COVID-19 out of the mix, and just imagine somebody had a common cold for example, if they coughed and sneezed, you'd expect them to cover their mouth or stifle it as much as possible as it was considered the polite thing to do and wash their hands. However now people are so heightened on what should be thought of as the worst case scenario because of COVID-19 even when it could be a harmless bodily reaction with no transmission of COVID-19 and every attempt made by the person to stop any particles going over. Yet they're looked at now with contempt?

"Staying on Brazil for a moment, a University of Washington study published yesterday warned that the country’s death toll could climb five-fold to 125,000 by early August, adding to fears it has become a new hot spot in the pandemic."

Add allergy season into the mix. A mask will be completely useless for those who will clawing at their itchy eyes all day.

Interesting how Brazil is only at 300K cases and we're at 1.7 million, yet somehow, the world is freaking out about Brazil. I still think the U.S. is far more f***ed than any other country and it is going to take a lot for any country to beat our numbers.

Some good news about Northern Ireland today. It has reported no new deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. The 1st Covid-19 case was detected in NI on the 27th of February. The first Covid-19 death reported there had taken place on the 18th of March.

The death toll from the virus had increased every day right up until today's reported figures of no deaths. NI's Dept of Health has said in a press conference today that even though today's figures show a glimmer of hope; people do not need to think that is a victory for them by overcoming themselves from the virus & they need to continue with abiding with the restrictions.

The Rep. of Ireland had reported no new Covid-19 deaths on Monday. But sadly it has reported 9 new deaths today to bring it to 1,615 deaths.

The HSPC has said that Nursing Home deaths have accounted for 54.5% of the 1,606 deaths in The Rep. of Ireland.

The Rep. of Ireland is now in 8th place for Covid-19 deaths per 100,000 of population according to John Hopkins University.

And to lift your spirits; this recent video of the Irish dancing priests from County Armagh has got over 700,000 views on Facebook.

I see what you're saying, but I mean, if someone chooses not to wear a mask, I don't really feel sorry at all if they good looked at with contempt. They should kind of expect it. They're making a very clear statement that they do not care if they spread the virus or that they believe they know better than medical professionals. The last estimate I read from the CDC is that 35% of those with COVID are asymptomatic. So, yeah, something as small as a sneeze, regardless of the cause, should be of concern to people who have no interest in getting sick.

That's where my allergies were at. I have to keep reminding myself not to touch my eyes. I want to claw them out.

Thankfully I'm not going outside very often so I'm good to scratch as much as I need when I'm home.

We're reaching the peak, and according to projections, it's still going to get worse before it gets better. The lack of proper testing and the slowness of the results contribute to the severe under notification of cases. The first national study of the pandemic suggests that the actual number is seven times the current official estimate.

There are political factors that also aggravate the situation, but I'm not going to go into them because posts of mine have already been deleted simply because I stated some facts.

The meat industry is trying to get back to normal. But workers are still getting sick — and shortages may get worse.
There are now more than 11,000 coronavirus cases tied to Tyson Foods, Smithfield Foods and JBS

"Despite those efforts, the number of Tyson employees with the coronavirus has exploded from less than 1,600 a month ago to more than 7,000 today, according to a Washington Post analysis of news reports and public records."

It is truly awful that reopening and setting things back to normal isn't as easy as we want it to be. And (hot take alert) in a world where America's billionaires alone have increased their wealth by hundreds of billions more within these few long months, lower level workers should not be pressured to pay with their lives, long or short-term health, and livelihoods so that others can breathe easier under a guise of regained normalcy.
