Marin County Indoor retail and outdoor worship to reopen on the 15th. Hair salons and indoor dining might reopen by the end of the month. Being really cautious given the modest caseload.
Got a bad haircut from my wife last night. Better than leaving it long I guess. Last edited by bruceames; 06-03-2020 at 03:10 PM. |

Not sure if it's due to increased testing, or some sort of backlog, but Sweden is reporting their highest number of cases to date by a huge margin. Previous high was in April at 812 cases. Today it's 2,214 cases. We'll have to see if there's any trend to this over the next week or so. I'm looking for their testing data but haven't found it yet. I did see an article that said they're ramping up testing, so perhaps this could be a result of that.
And since I brought up Sweden, I might as well post the latest news: Quote:

I saw a flyer that someone taped to a lamppost near my home for Barber services by appointment. My hair was unmanageable by that point so I decided to take a chance and go for it. He was an out-of-work local guy who set up a barber chair in his son's bedroom and was charging $35. I was a bit uneasy about it but it turned out great and I walked away looking and feeling brand new.

Salons and patio seating at restaurants opened up on 6/1. Haircuts were booked solid all day Monday. But was able to score a slot yesterday using my Great Clips app. About a 3.5 hour wait. Kept checking my app and at about the 5 minute mark I checked in (masks required). It was like shearing a sheep. Freshly groomed I met me mates at the pub for patio beers. Salud.

Pretty alarming turn of events with regards to the data from several hydroxychloroquine studies. . Some excerpts below. This is in no way meant to be political discussion, please do not bring politics into this.

It's not a good idea to trust national health and security to individual businesses and local stores. It would become a free-for-all very quickly. Have we not seen how some store/restaurant/bar owners are "handling" the situation? There needs to be some government assistance to keep things in check and ensure guidelines are being followed. Sadly, they're doing a poor job of that.

You may have just tried a bad beer. My first beers were pretty lousy. Cheapo 40-oz bottles. I can't believe I actually drank beer again after those. But I then realized there are much better beers. Keeping them ice-cold helps a ton. Of course I'm not a fan of all beers. The good thing is there are tons of them and they're definitely not all the same so you can sample some to get an idea if your really dislike beer or just dislike bad beer or certain types. I'm very much not a fan of Budweiser. Never understood it's popularity. I pretty much avoid drinking entirely these days as it doesn't help my stomach anyways, plus my girlfriend doesn't drink. But I'd drink an occasional bottle if I was given one.

#LancetGate
I mean, that’s crazy. Dr. Mandeep Mehra, the lead co-author is a director at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, which is credited with funding the study. Dr. Mehra and The Lancet failed to disclose that Brigham Hospital has a partnership with Gilead and is currently conducting TWO trials testing Remdesivir, the prime competitor of hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19, the focus of the study.
