idk about everywhere else but here in CT, you are required to wear a mask walking to your table, whenever the waiter comes over to talk to you, and when you exit the restaurant. also, tables have been moved around to allow for 6 ft between tables and we're running on 50% capacity.

also, they do disinfect each table/chairs after someone leaves, much more thoroughly then a regular wipe. this has at least been my experience and obviously, some places will not be as thorough as another.

Are you ignoring the case in China where several tables across the room in a restaurant got infected from one table, because they were in the airflow of the ceiling fans and it carried the virus across the room? This is a known fact that this is a concern. It has been mentioned in many scientific articles. Somebody is sick, coughs, it's in the air for hours (aerosol), and can easily be carried across the room by air currents.

This was posted yesterday in here:

https://www.freep.com/story/news/loc...ty/3250800001/

At least 34 COVID-19 cases linked to Harper's Restaurant; patrons asked to self-quarantine

Just because somebody in charge says it's safe to do so doesn't mean it is. I thought we had that figured out by now. People in charge have motives, and our well-being is rarely one of them.

Herd immunity means tons of people dying to get us to that point. So who would like to be next to do their part and add to the herd immunity? Anyone?
my post about restaurants is more to the point that they are allowed to be open, so chastising those who frequent them is ridiculous. also, around here, many have adapted and have outdoor seating, which is where i have only gone to so far, outdoor seating.

oh and herd immunity..you must have missed my next post...i wasnt insinuating that was the direction we should go...

Default 7 day moving average cases and deaths 6-25

Cases have spiked by 38% in the last week (since 6-18), going from an average of 24,805 to 34,158

Deaths, on the other hand, continue to decline, down 8.4% from last week, going from 665 to 609 per day. Since deaths lags cases though by an average of 3 weeks, it's likely deaths will start to increase too in the next few weeks.

A link to last week's charts.

Governor is threatening to shut some things down again and not let students return to school in the fall if New Mexico numbers don't improve. Thing is, New Mexicans are not following protocol and we're bordered by 2 massive hot spot states. Not to mention we have a massive deficit due to the last huge shutdown so I don't think she can put her money where her mouth is.

Seriously, every other post I make seems to be challenged, here and every other place I post. That's the way people are on the internet. The people it tends to attract thrive on disagreements. You still complain every time somebody doesn't agree with you. Since when has this ever not been the case online? I admit it gets frustrating too, because I'm not like that in real life, and don't love that the internet is always so confrontational, but that's how it is. Some people will agree with you and some wont. I've given several of your posts likes in the past. The problem is at times you get overly paranoid about this. I'm very concerned too, but I realize that we can't all stay locked up inside for the rest of the year. We have to find a balance. There's that word again that I have been saying for months. Balance. People need to do their part. The problem is many aren't.

Restaurants are indeed a concern, because you can't socially distance or wear a mask in a restaurant. How do you take an order 6 feet away? How do you wear a mask when you are eating? Do they wipe down those seats after every person leaves? I've seen how restaurants wipe down their tables normally. A dirty wet cloth soaked in tap water usually, with maybe a tiny amount of soap added to the bucket.
That's the problem. If people disagree, then fine, I'm willing to hear their side of the story and shift my beliefs accordingly. So when all is said and done and I'm convinced to reform my beliefs, I get challenged AGAIN! So, you see, I seem to be stuck in this tug of war that I can't seem to escape from. And that's what's annoying me.

Regarding outdoor dining restaurants, I actually passed by a couple of them the other day and one employee was wiping down the empty tables and not wearing a mask. I also saw a bartender preparing drinks inside and wearing his mask on his chin. So, I don't have full trust that these places are following proper protocol and that's why I refuse to dine in these places right now.

Florida at 9,000 cases today. At this rate, we may well get herd immunity before a vaccine.

Does air conditioning spread the coronavirus?

the short...they dont know lol

but they did mention the study in China that was previously mentioned in here:

A study published in April raised concerns that air conditioning could spread the coronavirus. The research, published in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Emerging Infectious Diseases journal, detailed an instance in which 10 restaurantgoers in China were sickened after eating at neighboring tables. The authors concluded that the virus was spread by the air conditioning system blowing tiny virus-laden droplets through the air.

Schaffner said this study may be an interesting outlier, but noted that there have been no further stories like this documented with the millions of infections worldwide.

Dr. Amesh Adalja, an infectious disease physician and a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, agreed.

“I haven't seen any strong evidence that we're seeing that this is transmitted in an airborne manner,” he said. “This is primarily spreading from droplets that go from one person directly to another person.”

While it’s theoretically possible that air conditioning can facilitate the spread of the virus, a lot of factors would have to align for that to happen, such as the timing of a cough or a gush of air at the right moment, Joseph Fair, a virologist and a NBC News contributor, said.

Spread through air conditioning isn’t a major factor in transmission, as the numbers don’t reflect that, he said.

“Ventilation and filtration provided by heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning systems can reduce the airborne concentration of SARS-CoV-2 and thus the risk of transmission through the air,” the statement said. “In general, disabling of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning systems is not a recommended measure to reduce the transmission of the virus.”

Yeah the media is once again lying, shocker! They don't mind that their words have serious consequences and damage to local businesses.

And the death rate per 100,000 people is as follows:

New Jersey - 167
New York - 161
Florida - 15
Texas - 8

A good friend of mine works part time at a large chain clothing store (that shall remain nameless) here in NYC. They haven't opened up the stores yet but working to get the stock ready and mark everything down.

Today was their first day back and managers told the workers that, when they open up next week, they're NOT going to insist that people wear masks. The logic is that, because it's not an actual law, it's not enough to force them to have everyone in masks.

The employees, however, must wear them at all times.

I wonder how many workers will be forced to quit because of rules like this. It puts them in a terrible position: choose the possibility of getting sick and losing their life over losing their income.

Not looking good at all in parts of California right now. New records & postponing of phased opening. Gov. Newsom just tweeted in the last 1/2 hour:

"Positivity rate: 5.7% over 7 days.

That rate in Imperial County, however, is at 23%. Hospitals there are overwhelmed.

So today we’re working with the county to reinstate a stay at home order.

We have to take this seriously."

Sounds about right, very few places are running near capacity, those that are are not that was because of covid 19 when the majority of them are there for other reasons. I need to stop watching the news again... I am supposed to go into Houston for a job next month, not in an area where I am going to see many people so I will take my regular traveling precautions, but will not sweat things knowing I can do my job in mere hours in peace and quiet and then get out of there, I have family that lives north of Houston and I dont think I can count on one hand the times I have actually set foot in the city

After having preached about how we should take precautions and such, I am going to be taking the biggest risk today since this pandemic started.... going for a haircut. I'll be heading over to my barber this evening after I sign off from work.

Very scary due to the lack of social distancing at the barbershop, but I need a haircut so badly. My mom helped by giving my hair a trim every few weeks during the lockdown, but she just did a poor job. I don't blame her as she's not a professional. I couldn't have done a better job myself, so not her fault. But the layers upon layers of unevenness in my hair plus the change of style in her cutting vs. my barbers really messed things up over time and I would like to get this fixed once and for all...
