Doesn't mean it'll happen this time - but unlike your embracement of absolutes...it 'could' happen.
I'm not deflecting. I'm sharing an opinion.

You don't want to trust the vaccine, don't. People will do what they want to do anyways.

I'm the first to not trust corporations due to greed and incompetence. But I'm willing to put some faith in the greatest scientific minds on the planet.

Also, I don't recall saying anywhere that I support rushing out a vaccine that is not safe or fully tested. I pointed out that they have resources at their disposal that they usually don't have (billions of dollars and everybody working towards the same goal simultaneously). Obviously I'm against rushing out a dangerous vaccine.

If a vaccine that is not totally tested/unsafe hits the market, I'm pretty sure some scientist with a conscience somewhere will leak the truth.

It's getting frustrating hearing people commenting on spikes that "the lockdown measures don't work! What's the point of localized lockdowns if the normal one failed?" No, lockdown measures do work.

If you stay in-doors the chances of you getting rained on are almost zero, but those chances increase when you go outside without an umbrella during a bleeding storm.

People aren't going to hold their hands up and say "My bad. I haven't social distanced or worn a mask. I've just told people I have!"

Today, end of June ... and since the beginning of the year (6 months) ...

• Total global number of "officially confirmed" (likely more) departed: 515,000
• Today alone (June 30): 5,000+

• Total in the US from the beginning: 130,000+
• Brazil: 60,000+ tomorrow
• Mexico: 30,000+ this weekend

That's 220,000 from those last three above; add Canada (almost 10,000) and the rest of the Americas and that's almost a quarter million (it will be soon).

That's half way through 2020 today.
The other half? I just want to live day by day.
But on the 4th of July it looks like 133,000 roughly in the USA. ...7,000 less than 140,000 that was mentioned by some experts some time ago. And 133,000 was the number I mentioned I can't remember when exactly.

By Christmas or New Year's Eve 2021?
• 20 million+ infected cases globally; that I can see very easily.
• 1 million+ deaths global total; not less. I'd say more like 1.5 million.

But, those guesses they can be less if (if) there is global cooperation and the means to slow it down.
There's also India ...

It's very tough to see a best case scenario. And nobody want to see the worse case scenario; it's just too much to fathom when we don't know where we swimming and going.
All the experts and leaders of the world won't save us; it's all up to us...not to them.

Me the ones I follow are the ones who have the most expertise with past pandemics and the virus researchers and virus scientists...epidemiologists (public health experts). ..Not the bus drivers, not the local cops and not the landlords.

I also like using good smart common sense...self-distancing, wearing masks publicly, keep my surroundings sanitized best I can...my hands without touching my face.

The real fighters we know ... all of us and particularly the nurses from all venues and doctors in the world. ...The people who care for the well being (health) of others including the vulnerable, elders, poor, handicapped, uneducated, abandoned, ... all the poor who are starving, without a chance to fight.

What are we learning? The inequality in the world is our own disease we created.

Of course it works. How do people think NY got its cases to go down? Certainly not by magic.

I see YouTube videos of people shopping at malls in Florida, many of whom are not wearing masks. Even after reopening, malls are still closed here in NY. So there's still a semi-lockdown over here, hence why cases still continue to decrease here...

Seriously, this pandemic is not looking good at all. I have a very bad feeling that herd immunity is our only way out of this and that's going to lead to some devastating results.

All we had to do was social distance and wear a mask to prevent this mess. Such simple things to do and because we couldn't do such simple things, we now have to tackle some major challenges up ahead...

There's almost nothing BUT a best case scenario.

We are dealing with a minor infection that has a minuscule mortality rate.

There really is no bad scenario for such a benign infection.

People here report infection numbers as if those represent sick people. We know that's not the case. A tiny number of those infections will feel ill effects. And, as more people are infected, immunity increases. We need to let this infection work through the system. The only bad scenario is keeping cases so low that we keep the infection alive in the system for too long.

So there's plenty of good news.

Don't worry so much. You won't get sick.

Live your life.

[Show spoiler]
I think they interviewed one of the bidders at the Cirque du Soleil bankruptcy on Bloomberg. Seemed like a smart guy, owns a bit of the LA Dodgers baseball team. He said people aren't going to stop gathering to see a spectacle, whether its a concert, movie, or performance/theater like Cirque forever, so he's buying up assets in that arena.

I'd actually like to see some disruption to the ticketmaster model in concerts. There's no refunds, there's all sorts of fees disguising the price, and there's a lot of promoters and middle-men who hold your money until the concert gets off the ground.

I'm not worry for me, I'm just a little concerned for Mom, for my sisters and brothers, for my friends, for few people in the world around...that's all.

All is just fine, other than that and the economy and swine flu (pigs) in China, ...really, I'm good man.

Besides, your optimism is comforting.

Stay safe, wear a mask.

A California Taco Chain Is Temporarily Closing Because Employees Are Being Harassed Over Face Masks

Quote:
A California taco chain has temporarily closed both of its taco stands after its employees have been reportedly harassed and had things thrown at them by customers who didn't want to wear a mask, according to BuzzFeed News.
Quote:
Our Taco Stands are exhausted by the constant conflicts over guests refusing to wear masks," the statement reads in part: "Staff have been harassed, called names, and had objects and liquids thrown at them.
I'm disgusted with how the US has handled every aspect of this pandemic from the very beginning. This is not a political issue. It's a health issue. So why do we insist on turning it into one?

It's appalling that so many people are putting employees through this when all they want to do is go to work and stay safe and do their part. Absolutely shameful.

Same thing happened here, which also happened to be a Mexican restaurant.
