I never said no lockdown. The problem is NY and NJ did a lockdown, but other states didn't or they did, but reopened too abruptly. Now their infection rate is up and they will bring the virus over to states like NY & NJ and bring them back up again.

If we're going to do a lockdown, it should be a national lockdown, not a statewide lockdown.

As for beaches, it's outdoors... and very easy to social distance at the beach. I don't think I've ever been to the beach and lied down on a spot that is closer than 6 feet to other people.

Only states can order a lockdown, not the Fed. Just like only they can open and close businesses.

The answer is it probably wasn't bars. It was opening up other stuff that caused the spike it just takes like a month for us to really see the spike since you need people to catch the thing get sick and decide to get tested or get really sick and go to the hospital.

Part of its people are just being less careful over time. If the government says its safe enough to protest or to eat at a restaurant then a ton of people will figure its safe enough to throw a decent sized party.

The simple answer is the R for the virus is greater then 1 the politicians bet and lost that masks and the summer would lower it by a greater amount then all the places opening up. It was an idiotic bet as it was basically an R of 1 when they started opening but here we are.

I don't mean to come off like a jerk, but for crying out loud, stop playing the victim. I have given several of your comments the thumbs up because I agreed with a point you made. People are not always against you. It's the internet. People are not always going to agree with you. In fact, most of the time, they won't. That's how the internet works. You seem to want some situation where everyone in here will agree with what you type, and it doesn't work that way. People have different opinions. Not everyone in here agrees with all of my posts and that's fine as long as it's kept civil, which it mostly is. As others have told you, try some self-censorship. I often delete comments before or just after posting them because I realize it's not worth it after reading it back - not worth the negative comments, or it may be taken the wrong way, or it's just not worth it. Stop worrying about what everyone else will think of your comments. Why do you care? I asked that over a month ago - why do you care what others in here think? You don't know them and they don't know you. Stick to what you feel and don't worry so much about pleasing others with what you're saying. If it's this frustrating for you, consider taking a break. I've done that in other forms, where things have gotten out of hand and it was becoming too stressful or affecting my day, and I decided to back out for a while. Don't let the internet ruin your day.

You're probably right here, but sadly it won't happen. We have gone through months of hardship and we have bought some time, but I feel we're headed right back to where we were at the beginning, because not enough people took this seriously. I guess the problem is we can't literally shut everything down. Food production is critical. Some stores are critical (people need to buy food, get their prescriptions, etc.). And public travel is necessary as many use it to get to critical jobs. So it's impossible to do a full 100% lockdown unless we want to go full China, and I don't think that would work here. People would not tolerate it, and it would get ugly.

Having every state make their own decisions about this was probably the wrong way to do it, because for every state that took it seriously (like mine) and handled it well, another state didn't. And we all knew that as soon as things started opening back up, a bit at a time, people would take that as a sign that's it's party time and they could just go back to normal. Too many people think it's all or nothing - if it isn't locked down, then the masks can come off and it's life as usual. So we're where we are now - our economy is decimated and we can't do a full lockdown at this point. And not enough people are taking it seriously (including many of the people in charge). So what is the solution? I don't think anybody knows honestly. The US is a mess right now. We're made some very bad decisions and I feel like we've wasted a lot of months here struggling and now we're undoing the progress we've made.

Are you from the US? If not have you ever visited few states around the water (ocean)?
Each state is unique in their lifestyle. They are proud of their freedom, their cities, their beaches, their concert halls, their sports, stadiums, museums, theaters, cabarets, joints (bars), amphitheaters, zoos, aquariums, surfing (beaches), music (Texas, New Orleans, ...), ... the Americans are a fiery vibrant proud happy bunch, good living people. ...From New York to Florida to Texas to Arizona to Nevada to California to Alaska and everywhere between. Each state is a force in itself, and the totality is what makes America the great country it is in the world. They have some of the most majestic country side vistas, best temperatures, best garden fields, fruits, beautiful looking women, Hollywood stars, Broadway stars, ...brief it's the mega entertainment capital of this continent...the Americas.

The entire planet, Earth, is beautifully gorgeous. It's worth living on it, protecting it and satisfying all its inhabitants...7.8 billion all with a beating heart and red blood pumping from it and running through their veins. ...From 1 second old to the eldest (140 years old, approx.). It's a fantastic rainbow of people,

We are handling this pandemic in the worst possible way, I agree.

And this is not, by any means, a political post and I apologize if it ends up coming across that way. My opinion is based on the facts... the U.S. infection rate has become out of control and we're not going to get anywhere if all states are not on the same page.
I'd agree with this, if the national response was the right one. Unfortunately, it isn't. If it was left up to a national decision, we'd be even more screwed. We've only gotten as far as we have due to the states that are using common sense. This is not meant to be political. It's just stating facts about the handling of this virus.

I have disagreed with several people in here over the months, some regularly. I have not in any way singled you out. And I agree with some of what you have said, and have given you some likes. Again, stop acting like everyone is against you. It's the internet. People disagree with each other all the time. In fact, that what most people do on the internet. There's plenty of disagreements in here between different posters.

There is another side of the coin; there's lots of love too in some of the things you say/said. There is apprecitation from a fair bunch. Use that energy and sky's the limit.

Not true. I think LordOfTheRings is a jerk. I mean he's from BC where they're a bunch of tree hugging, dope smoking, hippies!

I’m not exactly the most liked guy around here, I don’t let it bother me. You shouldn’t either. Not everyone is gonna like you, and that’s ok.

Mexico, 900 new departed. Next week they'll surpass Italy, to become 4th after UK.

Yes, I'm Canadian born, Quebec, living in BC for 45 years and beat up real good because I worked hardcore physical hard with forests (trees) for a fair bunch of years. I'm a hippie you can say that. It reflects in my doings, writings, nature wildlife loving, music and films loving.

I'm for a clean healthy planet, healthy mind people, clean air, clean water, electric cars, solar panels, renewable energies, nuclear fusion energy. I'm also anti-virus, anti-Corona, anti-COVID-19.

I don't eat cats, dogs, bats, pangolins. There should be enough food in the oceans for everyone.

No drugs, no weed smoking (I preferred hashish), no alcohol excess...all long long time gone.
