I never said no lockdown. The problem is NY and NJ did a lockdown, but other states didn't or they did, but reopened too abruptly. Now their infection rate is up and they will bring the virus over to states like NY & NJ and bring them back up again.

If we're going to do a lockdown, it should be a national lockdown, not a statewide lockdown.

As for beaches, it's outdoors... and very easy to social distance at the beach. I don't think I've ever been to the beach and lied down on a spot that is closer than 6 feet to other people.

Ten years ago I was living straight across...by water. Just a twenty minutes Ferry ride.
It's the Victoria Harbor pics that are in 35mm prints, the ones you would love Penton, with some amazing sailing boats and super yacht (Barbra Streisand).

But I have some digital ones with the ocean in the background. No killer whales (Orca) caption though. But they hang around, only few miles from home.

The answer is it probably wasn't bars. It was opening up other stuff that caused the spike it just takes like a month for us to really see the spike since you need people to catch the thing get sick and decide to get tested or get really sick and go to the hospital.

Part of its people are just being less careful over time. If the government says its safe enough to protest or to eat at a restaurant then a ton of people will figure its safe enough to throw a decent sized party.

The simple answer is the R for the virus is greater then 1 the politicians bet and lost that masks and the summer would lower it by a greater amount then all the places opening up. It was an idiotic bet as it was basically an R of 1 when they started opening but here we are.

You're probably right here, but sadly it won't happen. We have gone through months of hardship and we have bought some time, but I feel we're headed right back to where we were at the beginning, because not enough people took this seriously. I guess the problem is we can't literally shut everything down. Food production is critical. Some stores are critical (people need to buy food, get their prescriptions, etc.). And public travel is necessary as many use it to get to critical jobs. So it's impossible to do a full 100% lockdown unless we want to go full China, and I don't think that would work here. People would not tolerate it, and it would get ugly.

Having every state make their own decisions about this was probably the wrong way to do it, because for every state that took it seriously (like mine) and handled it well, another state didn't. And we all knew that as soon as things started opening back up, a bit at a time, people would take that as a sign that's it's party time and they could just go back to normal. Too many people think it's all or nothing - if it isn't locked down, then the masks can come off and it's life as usual. So we're where we are now - our economy is decimated and we can't do a full lockdown at this point. And not enough people are taking it seriously (including many of the people in charge). So what is the solution? I don't think anybody knows honestly. The US is a mess right now. We're made some very bad decisions and I feel like we've wasted a lot of months here struggling and now we're undoing the progress we've made.

Each state is unique in their lifestyle. I'd agree with this, if the national response was the right one. Unfortunately, it isn't. If it was left up to a national decision, we'd be even more screwed. We've only gotten as far as we have due to the states that are using common sense. This is not meant to be political. It's just stating facts about the handling of this virus.

I have disagreed with several people in here over the months, some regularly. I have not in any way singled you out. And I agree with some of what you have said, and have given you some likes. Again, stop acting like everyone is against you. It's the internet. People disagree with each other all the time. In fact, that what most people do on the internet. There's plenty of disagreements in here between different posters.
