Two New Mexico mayors are appealing to the governor, to roll back the restrictions on indoor dining.

Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima and Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway sent a letter this week, saying many of their cities’ restaurants are on the verge of permanent closure. The letter argues that local restaurants have been exemplary in adopting COVID-safe practices, and should be allowed to operate with reduced capacity.

Our own mayor wrote the governor? If he cares that much, it explains why so much press was there when we were protesting earlier this week.

So annoying that museums and malls will remain closed during NYC’s phase 4 reopening. Come on! All people have to do to is wear masks and keep 6 feet distance and everyone should be fine.

Feel free to look on Twitter at the videos of Steinway street in Astoria. It's been that way for a week or two and its getting worse. It lasts all night and doesn't really get crazy until midnight. They're calling it Miami North.

How this virus isn't making a comeback here right now, I don't know.

And, not only that, just last night there were two separate reports of gunshots and someone was stabbed around these parties.

And if someone could tell me what the Hell this is, I'd love to know:

For those who feel the virus isn't a big deal anymore because (they think) death rates are going down...

The people who think the virus isn't a big deal anymore are the same people who think the first wave is over.

I disagree with you a bit, Quebec just made masks mandatory https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montr...wers-1.5653407

In prior weeks when I went to pick up groceries very few people wore masks, this morning it was very different. If someone is worried they will get a huge fine or something it does help more with the biggest idiots, but just making them mandatory (even if enforcement is not that great) still gets most people thinking twice.

Obvious nightclubs in Edinburgh re opening as "cocktail bars" . I can't help but find it somewhat amusing.

Crime is up, the virus continues to spread, and people seem to becoming more and more frustrated with each passing day. I've seen more road rage in the last 4 months than I've seen in my entire life and there is less traffic. These issues aren't going to go away until we unify and do what's necessary to end this pandemic. The sad part is that I can't see that happening.

Saw something frustrating the other day on the news, another puff piece about restaurants re-opening and they were showing a waiter serving the meals. The guy had a perspex face covering on. That's great, but he was holding the plates under his chin.

The other thing was a sandwich shop, no face masks for customers or staff and no guard to protect the exposed food.

Everyone's complaining about we need to open this and that, and the media is pushing, but what they're portraying just doesn't give me confidence. You'd think they'd check the places out before showing them off as progress.

Our restaurant was doing just fine - socially distancing the tables as much as possible, sanitizing everything and having bus boys sanitize sections after customers eat in them. I know a lot of restaurants aren't that diligent, though.

We went to our local pub a couple times since the reopening and left half way through the 2nd time and won't go back.

The one guy serving food initially wasn't wearing a mask (we gave them a pass the 1st time as everyone was getting used to the new rules) and after mentioning it to our waitress he started wearing one, although not very well. It's like he couldn't grasp the concept it was possible to talk to someone without yanking it down.

Anyways, the 2nd time he was again serving food, this time with a mask - around his chin - and then talking over the food tray to the staff.

We're going out to the patio at another of our local pubs this afternoon. Unlike the one place, this place we've always been impressed with in terms of safety measures.

That said, I can't see us (especially with rates continuing to rise - after almost going away a month ago - daily) going to these pubs come Winter when we can't eat outside.

Again, I don't know how these places are going to survive.

The new normal for me is making our own meals at home. We have gotten use to it and frankly as time passes we miss going out to dinner that much less. The upshot is, we are spending less money eating at home and our savings is once again starting to grow. And that's with no second income from my son who continues to stay home due to my health issues. We sold his car which put money in the bank and cancelled his auto ins. which cut our ins. expense in half. When he eventually goes back to work, we will get another car. I expect him to be home with me for at least another 6 months.

Well for me it's a brief respite of normalcy that I need occasionally for my sanity.

Lee, ICYMI, go back a couple? pages and check out my post about GoodRx coupons as it may save you some money. For example, I can get methotrexate cheaper with a GoodRx coupon than running thru my insurance company.

Let's just say that your country doesn't have the widespread "people problem" that ours does.

I have a bigger fear that's about to be realized. Even more than the virus returning, I'm extremely afraid of what crime will be like once the $600 ends in a couple of weeks. People are going to get *extremely* desperate if their jobs aren't back...and there are a lot of people in this country that are unemployed.

How this virus isn't making a comeback here right now, I don't know.
What makes the big difference between here and in Florida or Texas is that people here in NY are doing it outdoors. Indoor dining and drinking is still not allowed, but they are allowed in other states. Now that certainly doesn't mean that we should go wild outdoors, but I'm just saying that it's FAR more likely to catch the virus indoors as opposed to outdoors. And now I know why museum and malls aren't allowed to open. Probably a smart move after all since people are too dumb to do the right thing...
