McDonald’s Says ‘No Mask, No Hamburgers’ In New Ruling On Face Coverings

McDonald’s on Friday decreed that all customers will be required to wear face coverings when entering one of its restaurants.

The change starts Aug. 1 and is part of a number of new measures being implemented by the fast food restaurant. In-person dining is also out for another 30 days, and a press release, said new plastic dividers will be installed in the front and back of its restaurants.

“While nearly 82 percent of our restaurants are in states or localities that require facial coverings for both crew and customers today, it’s important we protect the safety of all employees and customers,” the company said.

McDonald’s joins CVS, Target and Walmart in requiring customers to wear a mask if they want to enter the stores.

McDonald’s said it “will provide training for our restaurant staff to ensure they are prepared to address this new policy in a friendly and positive way.” -Source

The New Mexico Restaurant Association continues to fight the governor’s public health order.

The group is filing a new lawsuit, claiming the Department of Health did not turn over documents that explain why Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham banned in-person restaurant dining a second time. Though at press conferences, the governor has said sitting indoors for an extended period of time, around other people, presents a greater risk. This is the second lawsuit filed by the association this week.

Also in counter-argument to her, the numbers have actually gone UP in our state the 13 days restaurants haven't allowed indoor dining. If they continue to go up, that pretty much would kill her argument that restaurants are to blame.

It takes at least 2 weeks to see an effect from an action taken going off of testing numbers. It might take 4 or 5 weeks now given results from tests are sometimes taking up to 20 days.

Even if its still going up after 4 or 5 weeks that doesn't mean you can reopen restaurants it more just means you need to close even more things.

There is an update to that Deadline article.

UPDATE: McDonald’s said today it doesn’t want to turn away anyone seeking a burger.

The fast-food giant now says that it will offer customers who arrive at the stores without a mask the opportunity to don one that they will provide. If the customer declines to do so, the store will “expedite the order and guide them to a designated pick-up spot a safe distance from other customers.”

No additional details on where that pickup spot will be located on store properties or what will be done if a customer refuses such segregation. Previously, the chain said it would deal with the mask issue without specifying what actions would be taken with those who refuse to comply, beyond being “friendly” and “positive.”

Last night, neighbours across the street had at least 5 couples over plus all their kids, plus the neighbour next door as well. All hanging in buddy's garage, drinking, eating a buffet type bbq dinner, going all night. What Pandemic?

A group of protesters say they will not leave the Roundhouse until the governor is removed from office. The protest, organized by the group I Will Not Comply NM, says Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has violated New Mexicans’ constitutional rights.

The group says they have no other option but to “lock the doors” and remain in place until the governor is removed. “It has nothing to do with Republican or Democrat. It doesn’t have to do with COVID, it doesn’t have to do masks. This is about the Constitution of the United States, and we have a governor that violated her oath of office. We have no recourse in the state, so I’m staying here until the Department of Justice and AG Barr gets involved,” said protest attendee Stephen Garrett, a small business owner in Moriarty. The group claims they will secure water, port-a-potties, generators, and other items essential for their “indefinite stay.”
