The purpose for all the closures is to create "social distance." It is much easier to have online company employees work from home. There they can process orders.

Warehouse employees can practice social distancing. At worst, some are laid off to give more space between existing employees. May create slower deliveries.

The only thing I can see that would force Amazon to close would be if UPS, FedEx and the USPS all had shutdowns. That would make all orders undeliverable. I don't see that happening in the near future.

Went to see Emma last night with my wife and granddaughter. Wanted to go before they close here too. Normally we get reserved seats, but with social distancing they told to sit anywhere. It was pretty empty anyway. The nice thing is this one has recliners so the rows are spread apart 6 feet, so I hope it doesn't have to close and worse case eventually go out of business.

Fortunately I have a nice gym set in extra space here at my business. Just set it up a 6 weeks ago so the timing was perfect. I never thought one of the benefits would be this.

Dying from COVID-19 is pretty much the same as dying from Pneumonia.

New Jersey under curfew lockdown

Quote:
.NEW JERSEY — In an unprecedented step to try and stop the spread of coronavirus, Gov. Phil Murphy announced a statewide curfew for all residents and businesses.

According to the governor, businesses must close at 8:00 p.m. and New Jersey residents should not leave their homes from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Additionally, all casinos, restaurants, bars, movie theaters and gyms must shut down at 8:00 p.m. and will remain closed until further notice in New Jersey as well as New York and Connecticut. This was announced by the governors of all three states on Monday.

In New Jersey, nearly 100 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and at least two have died.

“I saw too many videos last night of packed bars, people passing bottles drinking from the same bottle, literally on top of each other,” Murphy said Sunday, after saying he was considering the curfew. “In short of shutting the entire state down, clipping establishments by a number of hours each night in particular we believe will have a meaningful, positive outcome in terms of social distancing.”

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also say gatherings of 50 people or more should not take place for the next eight weeks, excepting businesses or schools.

Municipalities have also begun taking various steps on their own to try last week to slow down the spread. Millburn has closed down the schools for online learning, and will be postponing non-essential township meetings. (Source)

I use this stream to track the virus. I believe the gentleman responsible for it is a South Korean doctor.

Haven't left the house in two days which is something that I haven't done in years unless I was sick. Pretty much everything is shutting down and thankfully my job finally got their shit together last Friday.

Never thought I would ever see anything like this.

Hey good news, it was decided last night that the school would close for 2 weeks. So my niece and nephew won’t be exposed to the virus (at least, not at school).

It's been long over due. I can imagine this has been a mind f**k for those that have lived like 50 60 years of the post war period where no real existential threats existed, save for the Soviet Union.
