Target has okay-sized bottles of sanitizer they now sell next to check-outs at the local store.

Amazon had this 12-pack of Purell (large 20 oz bottles) in stock yesterday, but it was priced at over $100. They don't appear to be selling standard consumer-sized (8/12 oz) bottles on Amazon or anywhere else at the moment.

Yeah i could live with germ-x i guess, it's the complete no name brands that bother me and wont waste my money on them. Hand soap is another item that is limited and hard to get lately at local grocery stores.

Lol already gone, i think many are just buying it up and relisting it with a higher price. I have also bought items off amazon to only have them cancelled later on and relisted at nearly double the price.

Go to Walmart's site and they have plenty of brands like Charmin in stock. I'm getting a pack of Scott TP from them today in fact. My 2nd order of a bulk amount since this pandemic started.

Hand sanitizers may be hard to find online but they seem to be plentiful at many local mom & pop bodegas/grocery stores and delis. At a neighborhood grocer near my job they have all kinds of sanitizer available in different price ranges, and my local supermarket carries a spray version that is handy for sanitizing the groceries I just purchased

You think there aren't thousands, or tens of thousands, or even more instances of that happening? You're deluding yourself.
the quote you posted literally says "she believes the death was covid related"...they didnt even know if they actually had Covid in January lol

My point is that the death numbers, like the infection numbers, are higher than stated, and not to let the "low" death figure give the impression the virus isn't deadly.

im sure they are higher than reported but you also have to offset the amount being reported a Covid when it wasnt....so while it likely is higher, doubt its anywhere near the numbers you suggested. even 30%...

as you mentioned, there is just no way to know, so can only deal with the numbers we do know.

an issue in VT a week or two ago....not deaths, but positive infections. 1,613 people tested positive....only to re-test and find out that only 5 of the 1613 positives were actually positive... how many times has/does this happen all over the country with incompetent labs but are never confirmed to be wrong? we will never know.

"65 persons who had earlier tested positive for the virus by antigen test at Manchester Medical Center, and found all but four are not confirmed cases.

Of the 65 people who tested positive, only four persons also tested positive for the virus using a PCR genome test, he said."

"When combined with the results of more than 1,000 pop-up tests taken last week in Londonderry and Manchester, that works out to 1,613 persons tested or retested with a PCR test - and only five positive results, Levine said "

Our busy body neighbour just informed us they're going to hold another block party in a couple weeks.

There hasn't been one in a couple years now, but apparently during the midst of a pandemic makes perfect sense to have 85 households all gather together for drinks and food.

And her husband is a cop.

It's almost like folks like that think they're gonna die if they have to wait some more months before they do stuff like that

World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn has confirmed to BBC Sport on BBC Two today that all remaining matches at the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield will now be played behind closed doors from tomorrow. There are small limited crowds attending the first day of the tournament which begun this morning. A lot of the spectators today are not wearing face masks at the venue. Asian snooker fans are wearing masks though.

Some improvements have been made to improve players health inside the match arena at the Crucible. Sneeze guards have been erected along the handrails & in-between players inside the arena to protect themselves from getting Covid-19.

I also heard from Channel 4 in the UK that F1 driver Sergio Perez made a video on his social media account to say that he is still fit & healthy after his Covid-19 diagnosis from his positive test result last night. ESPN Mexico had reported that Perez got the virus while he visited family & friends with fans allowed to take pictures of him at a restaurant in Mexico. He then went to Sardinia in Italy to go on a family vacation. His wife had then uploaded pictures of those recent events up on Instagram. He then had to be called back by the FIA because his 1st Covid test result was inconclusive. And when Sergio's 2nd test was done for Covid; he was positive. His wife had to then remove all of the pictures from those gatherings to write the news of his results on Instagram.

Meanwhile in the UK, we have one (relatively) hot day, and the beaches are once again completely packed with morons .
All this at a time when various restrictions might be coming back in due to the rise in infection rates.

Yes, but that's understandable. Cooped up for weeks/months on end, with dreary weather, I can understand wanting to be outside in nice weather.
Hopefully though, they keep distance from each other.

Hahaha, those'll be some funky tanlines, if they wear masks...

From the pictures doing the rounds today, you can barely see any sand on the beaches such is the large volume of people packed in like tinned sardines.

Was it an overhead photo? Beach pics from ground level always make it look like it's more crowded than it really is.

When it comes to the coronavirus and children, looks may be deceiving.

In a study of children under five who show mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19, those kids were found to contain higher concentrations of the virus compared to older children, teens and adults, according to researchers at a Chicago pediatric hospital and Northwestern University.

The findings come as parents, educators and policymakers around the world grapple with the question of whether it's safe to reopen day-care centers and schools in the coming weeks.

The study, which was released Thursday in the journal JAMA Pediatrics, did not test the transmission rate of children—but does raise the prospect that children could be just as, or even more, prone to COVID infection and transmission than adults, although symptoms in the vast majority of children are comparably milder, the researchers found.

"One of the things that’s come up in the whole school reopening discussion, is: since kids are less sick, is it because they have less of the virus?," said Taylor Heald-Sargent, the lead author and a pediatric infectious diseases specialist at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, and assistant professor of pediatrics at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.

"And our data does not support that,” she told Fortune. As a result, "we can't assume that kids aren't able to spread the virus."

The study used clinical data collected during the treatment of 145 COVID-19 patients in Chicago with mild to moderate symptoms, who had begun to display those symptoms over the previous week. The sample was roughly divided into three equal groups: children under five, children between five and 18, and adults from 18 to 65. The sample excluded patients who were seriously ill, asymptomatic patients, and patients whose symptoms had been present for more than a week, or whose symptoms couldn't be tracked.

Nasal swabs taken from those patients indicated that the viral load in children under five was "statistically significant" compared to older children and adults, the paper found.

The trend was first noticed during clinical observations, Heald-Sargent said, when she and her co-authors first noticed that nasal samples from kids who were not particularly ill contained unusually high levels of the virus.

"We were surprised," she added.

There's still much to be learned about how most children become infected with the virus, how their immune systems respond to COVID-19, and how they transmit it, she added. What's better understood is that the symptoms shown in young children tend to be less severe than those of adults—that's despite the fact that young children are broadly more vulnerable to respiratory infections at a younger age.

The study also warns that because schools and day-care closed early in the lockdown, children broadly were less exposed to the virus than adults. Other studies have also tackled this observation—with mixed results.

Even with the new data, Heald-Sargent herself warns that reopening schools and day-cares is a "complex and nuanced" subject. Other pediatricians have warned that the impacts on children's mental health, education, and development could be damaged far more by long breaks from school and time spent in lockdown than by the virus itself, complicating the arguments for and against a great reopening.

Well turns out my anxiety attacks (2 today while I done a 10 mile hike) are a direct result of being locked down for so long, and not going many places. Basically my brain subconsciously perceives all these places I haven’t been to now a threat, and trys to hijack my higher functioning. Resulting in panic.

The doctor also told me they've been swamped with calls of people all experiencing the same thing.

So if any of you fellas have been mostly sticking to a few "safe" places these last few months. I'd take it slowly at first getting back into the world. And to anyone that's maybe a therapist, you've got a goldmine coming your way.
