It is about volume. If a dining room has a capacity of 100 people, there is no way you can make up that volume solely through takeout or delivery.

You reach a point where the cost of keeping open is overtaking your profits for the day.

There are also restaurants that don't cater well to take out/delivery. Not sure how many people would be willing to pay for a take-out steak.

Yeah I already know the last restaurant I worked at relied on 3 main things for income - their bar, their salad bar/buffet and customers buying their $30-40 steaks. Whoops.

Hmmmm....we're now hitting numbers equivalent to what we were getting at the peak at the end of April. And school hasn't even started yet.

Whether I eat at the restaurant or eat at home, what the heck is the difference?? It's the same thing. I see no reason how takeout is ruining these restaurants' profit.

You know what's funny, I see soooo many elderly people walking outside without masks. I hope they realize that they are the most vulnerable to this disease. It just gets me annoyed. Many of us are walking around with a mask on mostly for the protection of other people and here are these elders walking around and showing that they don't give a damn.

At this point I think most old people just don't care for whatever reasons.

The difference is nobody orders a steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and vegetables with a side salad, then says, "to go, please". Because by the time it arrives to your door, it will not be worth the price. Pizza places have special methods to keep your pizzas hot for delivery, which is why they guarantee it will arrive hot. In my experience, Dominoes keeps that promise. Chinese food tends to reheat well quickly in a microwave if needed after delivery. Nobody wants to order a fancy steak or chicken dinner and have it arrive cold in a bag. At that point there is no reason to order it. Some foods are suitable for take-out, and some foods aren't.

My girlfriend's mom goes every 6 weeks to the hair salon, even though those are consistently rated as moderate-high risk. Both her mom and dad are at the age where they should be more careful. They usually are, but for some reason they aren't concerned about the hairdresser.

Twice now I've been crowded up in the line at the grocery store, and both times it was an elderly man who had no concept of personal space or distancing. He was wearing a mask but was way too close to me while I was in line.

You do realize that we are still learning every day about the long-term health affects of being infected, right? It plays havoc with our systems. Even people who are younger and blow off the infection with barely a sniffle may be suffering internal/organ damage they are unaware of, that may become a problem later in life.

Stop downplaying this virus.

Social distancing is a thing of the past. Nobody does it anymore; at least, not here in NY. People seem to have this thinking that just because you're both wearing a mask, social distancing is not necessary. They don't realize that BOTH is needed for maximum protection.

That's because people either don't know or don't care. I am going to be wildly bemused if all these morons at work who aren't wearing masks or even pretending to socially distance get us in trouble with the Department of Health. With the number of employees we have, I'm stunned it seems none of us have gotten it yet.

I had to go out to stock up on more hand sanitizers today and to my surprise, they have gotten quite expensive. An 8 oz bottle is around $6. That's insane!

I guess I should be grateful that these stores have them in stock now. Honestly, I'd rather there be $6 hand sanitizers than no sanitizers at all. The problem is, people were abusing it before when they were cheap. Too many people were buying unnecessary quantities and stores were completely sold out for a long period of time.

I was at a local grocery store yesterday in a state that both the state and store require masks. In front of the beef display was a woman without a mask. If she had one, it was no where in site.

I stood there for a moment and thought if I should say something? It was the first time I had on my "Keep Patrick Mahomes Safe. Wear a Mask" tshirt.

I thought if the confrontation became too public and someone would video it....I didn't want to be that viral guy...so let it go.

Not for you to say anything. What you should have done is gone to the store manager and report her. It's his job to deal with it.

Have you guys noticed you don't really miss some stuff that went away with shelter in place?

I Don't really miss going to the theater or going to restaurants much at all. Getting a haircut from a relative has been hit or miss. I dont really mind grooming the dog. Overall a fair number of things aren't to bad to do yourself.

I miss not having to wear a mask, going to the theater, running races.

On the plus side, I'm busier than ever at work. Business in construction is booming. People spending their money on home improvements and remodels, now that they are working from home and not able to travel and spend money on entertainment.
