I just got laid off from my job. I was on furlough since the end of March. I heard they are letting go most of the company. COVID-19 has decimated a lot of businesses.

I worked in the travel industry. Also heard the entire New York staff was laid off. Not sure exactly how many that was. It's hard when you have worked for a company for 22 years. Lots of people who had many years in have been let go.

Sorry to hear that. Over two decades with the company is quite a run (in any job market, but especially over the last decade). I hope they appreciated your contribution to their success with a decent severance package.

The company has done three rounds of layoffs this year. The first in March, right when the whole COVID thing started, then again in July. I survived both of those. I guess I kind of expected it would happen sooner or later.

I think this was in the news a month or two ago ... from Denmark and the mink population.
Now it's back with measures that are very sadly necessary.

“For the first time in the U.S. — or any other country — the daily case count topped 100,000 on Wednesday, according to the COVID Tracking Project, which logged 103,087 new cases.”

“Daily new confirmed coronavirus cases in the U.S. have surged 45% over the past two weeks, to a record 7-day average of 86,352, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. Deaths are also on the rise, up 15 percent to an average of 846 deaths every day. The total U.S. death toll is already more than 232,000, and total confirmed U.S. cases have surpassed 9 million. Those are the highest totals in the world, and new infections are increasing in nearly every state.”

Under the media radar, but another like-therapeutic having a slightly longer ½ life than that of either Eli Lilly or Regeneron’s anti-COVID 19 monoclonal antibodies and to see if you or your family/close acquaintances qualify for it - https://vircovid19study.com/us/en

I kind of feel bad for the Minks...17 million to be slaughtered as a handful have been found carrying a mutated strain of Covid.

I think its fair to say we're ramping.

Locally, I don't think Orange County is going to stay in the moderate tier for long. I went to the park the other day, I was one of the few maskers. Either its the messaging that the outdoors are safe (didn't work out too well in the D.C. Rose Garden) or that people in this county are just celebrating because we finally made it out of the most restrictive tier, both of these are just going to send us right back where we were and probably cause the county to close indoor dining again (which I don't agree with, personally).
