Here's on the latest, without sad photos ...

It is serious, but what can we do; human lives are @ stake. ...No small issue.

CNBC - Pfizer, BioNTech say Covid vaccine is more than 90% effective—‘great day for science and humanity’

Pfizer/BioNTech's mRNA vaccine 90% effective in covid-19 prevention in their trial of 43,538 participants.

Pretty sure Pfizer is going to apply, and get, an EUA for this one. They'll have to wait another 2 weeks to apply.

Dow futures are +1,500 at the moment... heck even AMC is up 60% pre-market.

Good news is always welcome, but I'm still skeptical that we won't end up lining up for our yearly Covid shot nonsense...

Getting ready to take my second dose of the shingles vaccine. Reminder to others to do the same. Many ins providers cover this cost.

That Pfizer vaccine for Covid should get emergency approval from the CDC's located in Europe & the US within two weeks time. That would be the critical timeframe to look out for once everything goes well with the data that is being supplied from Pfizer & BioNTech.

Everyone who receives it is still required to get 2 doses for it to actually work correctly. That's going to be a big challenge for distribution because anyone who is going to receive this vaccine in a few weeks time might be mostly taken up by people who are healthcare workers & vulnerable people/elderly people who have a long term illness first. OTOH; it's still good news to know we are finally going to have a vaccine that is reportedly safe & works to a satisfactory level once it officially goes out for public distribution from your healthcare providers.

Let's hope things will run more smoothly for now as the vaccine tries to make great progress in getting approval.

"Plans to deliver hundreds of millions of coronavirus vaccines around the world raise questions about logistics and distribution in part because of the need to store and transport them in supercooled containers.

Pfizer’s vaccine requires a storage temperature of minus 94 degrees Fahrenheit. By comparison, Moderna has said its vaccine must be stored at minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit."
Minus 94° ... very cold storage.

Select hospitals have that cold storage.

CVS/Walgreens/Rite Aid? Not so much.

If I have to drive to the hospital, then I have to drive to the hospital... I mean if it genuinely ends up at more than 90%, then GIVE IT TO MY VEINS

* Masks are going to be the way of life for a good while.
I don't know how long exactly, perhaps couple years.
It's one of the very best safeguards we have right now, plus the other measures we already know. Till then we hope for a better journey ahead with working vaccines whenever they get here and everywhere in the world.
To be alive today is a bonus.

Wonder how they determine if a 'serious adverse event' is at all related to a vaccine?

tip from the wife – for those of you or your family members who qualify for an early round of receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, or for that matter, another upcoming vaccine like that from Moderna, etc. and are currently getting concomitant therapy for managing another disease by decreasing the activity of their immune systems for whatever illness, e.g. cancer, etc.

rather than getting the vaccine in a willy nilly fashion, make sure you check with your well-informed ordering doctor as to exactly when would be the best timing in which to get the vaccine in order to allow your immune system to maximize development of anti-corona virus antibodies despite the immunosuppression of your concomitant therapy for cancer, rheumatological diseases, etc.
