Just sayin' --- isn't that the point actions have consequences. A person can assume they will be asymptotic and so they don't care, and they might be right. But that attitude helps propagate the virus and soon some people will die. It does not matter if it is the 6 in the nursing home or that other person |

At some point you have to blame the lax procedures of the nursing home. They didn't even shut off visitation from outside visitors/relatives until two weeks after they found out an employee tested positive: Central Maine - Madison nursing home violated federal requirements to prevent spread of COVID-19, documents say In addition to violating multiple federal standards of care, they violated state standards of care. Perhaps the nursing home and the nursing home employees should also have taken the virus seriously. |

New Mexico idiots actually asked for a half-mask mandate so they don't have to wear them over their nose. Legislators said no. I have no words.

2) let's say everyone involbd with the NH did everything right according to what you said that would have only spared 6 out of 7 that seventh persons fate would not have changed 3) You did not say if the virus reached th NH because an employee was at the wedding, a guest of the wedding went to visit a relative afterwards at the nursing home or if the person that brought it into the nursing was even at the wedding (maybe someone from the wedding visited the same shop or public transportation.... as the person that brought it into the NH). But does it really matter what ever it is? you can't build impenetrable walls around nursing homes where nothing and no one goes in and out of them. if the disease is out in the community it will eventually get in there. |

I don't know why WHO didn't mention it, and instead mentioned only Thailand. * Also Vietnam is doing an excellent job, and Singapore, and few other countries. Those countries don't need a vaccine; everything is under control by sheer will power, total dedication like John Wick...everyone. |

I think we agree that the Maplecrest was playing with fire by allowing visitors and relatives five months into a by-now-known pandemic. That they introduced covid in the facility by an employee might have been inevitability. That they didn't do anything two weeks after an employee literally marked "yes" to every covid symptom on the check-in screening log is fairly insane, at least to me, even though I don't know the in-and-outs of nursing home operations. I would add that some nursing homes are doing everything possible to keep this virus out, there was a thread on bogleheads about a nurisng home that restricted its employees from seeing their grandchildren because they were outside of the family unit: https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=316768 . I don't personally believe there are any easy answers for this situation. |
