Surprised you still can't vote online, this year might change that.

How is it that in 2020, such a thing still isn’t possible?

That is one problem. You expect people to exercise caution and common sense during these times but no. If the stories I've read are to be believed, many people were still gathering in large areas like bars. It is only when they started shutting down bars that it became real.

I like to put my faith in humanity but there are some people who are out there that do not understand how infectious this disease is. Just check out Italy's case explosion and it shows you without proper measurements, this thing would have exploded and gotten out of hand.

When was the last time anyone can recall them shutting down an entire country for a "flu".

The main thing people should know is that COVID-19 can be carried with no symptoms. So you can be 100% healthy, not showing signs but still have it. Look up Donavan Mitchell, NBA player. He has it but during interviews, he mentions that he wasn't feeling sick at all.

Another thing to remember, you are not only saving yourself but preventing spread to the vulnerable population like the elderly or people with serious underlying conditions.

I think it’s been around a lot longer than we know. I don’t think all businesses need to shit down to contain it, common sense and good hygiene will take care of a lot of this.

Common sense huh? Not a whole lot of that going around lately.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-res...-pandemic.html

From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (range: 195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (range: 8868-18,306) in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 virus.

Hmm.... seems pretty "severe" to me.

It's interesting how many people on message boards are completely informed, aware, and know exactly what we should be doing, while apparently so many doctors, virologists, and experts are so misinformed and just spreading panic.

I'm extremely glad to be surrounded by so many educated and informed and people who can expand my thinking to such a degree.

Hopefully, astrophysics is just around the corner!

And those (those who continued going to bars etc) are the people who are idiots plain and simple, those like the person who knowing they were infected STILL boarded a JetBlue flight to return home before telling the crew he was positive AFTER they landed. He was rightfully banned from them for life.

Nowhere am I saying or said to continue life as normal, nowhere. I think people need to keep calm as possible. Coming from someone with a one year old and a childhood or respiratory issues.

Let's hope that trash collection will continue.
If they stop, that could make this disease spread more.

Of course the rats and the cockroaches will make it through this just fine.
They can survive anything.

I don't see that happening. It's not the kind of business that puts a lot of people in close contact. In fact what I see here is a guy drives up in a truck, extends the forks, lifts the trash container and empties it into his truck (he never leaves the cab), then when full, he drives to the landfill and dumps his load and goes back on his route. Not once has he left his truck.

True, but people also still leave bags full of trash next to the container once it gets too full.

Heck tomorrow I'm supposed to have a follow-up exam ( just checking my BP and weight) at my doctor, thinking seriously about calling it off now.

Definitely seen that! Like yesterday. Had to be a dozen bags next to the container. Truck comes, empties the container and leaves the bags behind. Then one of the service people in my complex who rides around in a golf cart comes and dumps the extra bags into the container. It's first on his list of things to do

Small waiting room? I suggest you go, talk to the person who checks you in and tell her/him you do not want to wait there. Give her your cell # and tell them you will be right outside sitting in your car. They can call you when it's your turn.

We took our daughter to her appointment last friday, sat apart from others, kept my girl from running around, and there was plenty of sanitizer available, though this was an important trip for her to confirm an ear infection had ended. Depends on the office you are going to and how important that appointment is.
