Oh well, time to buy more stock in Pfizer, Moderna, Astrazenica, and Johnson & Johnson I supposed. Endless money for those companies...
Just IMO but if we have to get yearly shots, then we have to and that's the world we'll live in. If that's the difference between all of my friends in retail/dining/high-touch customer service or tourist areas (a lot of OC/LA) being employed or them not being employed, then I'll happily take a shot that may cost $30 bucks next year and every year thereafter.

China really did borne a perfect virus. Unfortunately its probably not going to be the last super-virus to originate from there, people are packed in like sardines in major city after major city - New York City times 10 times 10 again - and they're eating wildlife caught from caves.

China's gift to the world.

But, but, it's no worse than the flu...

"COVID-19 has now killed more people in Alberta (in 10 months) than influenza did over the last 10 years combined, the province's top public health doctor says."

Are people not wearing masks there or is it just general social gathering? I had no idea they were making field hospitals in Alberta.

Outside a few idiots who are outliers, people in the major cities have been following the rules.

The issue is, with colder weather, it forced people inside, and even at reduced gathering numbers it still caused the virus to take off. Plus the hardest hit communities in Calgary and Edmonton all tend to have the same, demographics, whereby it's quite common for households to have a dozen people living under one roof - making social distancing impossible. Those people in turn, tend to be employed in jobs where they can't work from home and they interact with the public - taxi drivers, bus drivers, assembly lines etc.

Numbers are finally coming down from record highs after the latest round of lockdowns, but deaths always tend to lag a few weeks.

The one hour video above won't suit everyone, but it's worth it for the ones who like to learn.

This one below is much shorter ...

The French President has tested positive for Covid-19.

I also got my flu vaccine from my GP today. It covers 4 doses of the flu from this year into next year.

I was talking to him about getting the Covid vaccine from Pfizer after the flu shot was taken. I told him about the probability of this vaccine & others of giving allergies to any recipients. He gave the same sort of stock answer when the vaccines do go out to people who will get it in that there maybe a very small chance of people who may get reactions from these shots. He was giving a figure of about 2% of people worldwide who could get allergies from these vaccines & that was a lot of people having problems with it. He said because of my age right now, being in my 30's, I may have a greater choice of vaccines to choose from to fight this virus. He said it was my call to take one or not.

Meanwhile, with regards to the field hospital being set up at UCI in Orange which I reference above, I’ll ask my wife if next week she has time to take a pic of what it looks like.

Thanks for that. Very interesting stuff. I think we are still a generation away from mainstream personally. But it’s going in the right direction.

May I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a safe, peaceful Christmas. It’s been trying for many of us and my thoughts go out to you and your wife.

I extend best wishes to everyone in this thread. Stay safe and have a happy Christmas.

Ditto Steed and here’s wishing Santa is kind to Sunderland AFC in the Jan. transfer window. It’s getting pretty awful here in the states, including California -

with COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and triaging care, but I remind my wife it could always be worse, e.g. we could have the Big One (https://www.forbes.com/advisor/homeo...loser-big-one/) hit us resulting in hundreds seriously injured at the same time as we’re dealing with a pandemic.
Choosing a Christmas tree tomorrow to salvage the Christmas spirit.
