Jesus the panicking in this thread is ridiculous. It's not going to be the end of the world. You won't have to take up arms and learn how to hunt game and fish. The Spanish flu in 1918 had a death rate of 2.5% and affected over a 1/3 of the population, and yet here we are, and most people probably never even heard of the Spanish flu outbreak (especially before this virus came to be).
This virus will be less deadly than that one, (as a percentage anyway) well under 1% once testing catches up to all the cases. And many cases will never show up because people already recovered without showing symptoms. Hopefully a test will show who has already recovered and thus has relative immunity, so that some of those people can help others, especially the elderly, and we know how many are left at risk. |

Although the data represents March 17th numbers, still an interesting chart to put pandemics in perspective. Of course COVID-19 is ongoing...

No one likes the general that ordered their son to take that hill and he died, but you can't win a war by sticking your head in the sand. Cowards during war time used to be imprisoned or worse. Now they're coddled and given time outs. I'm seeing a hell of a lot of spineless people on here panicking when nothing has happened to them beyond not being able to buy toilet paper this week because idiots who don't know Corona from dysentery are hoarding it all. You can call that baloney all you want, but it's the absolute truth. People should be using their time at home to do something more useful than shaking their legs in fear, IMO. Check on your neighbors. Start a neighborhood watch. Hell, say a prayer to whatever god you believe in. Any of that is more helpful than whining at people keeping your country running for you. |

That sounds like it might be unrelated. They should have already had their launch shipments in for that before the warehouse shipment announcement and some people are reporting that it has shipped. So it could be that Nintendo couldn't meet demand due to the Switch cartridge shortages that have been delaying physical Switch games.

Almost all of our company is being furloughed for the next 60 days without pay.
The few people who are left to work will have their hours cut drastically. Could be longer than 60 days, but I hope not. The city declared a state of emergency yesterday They can call for a curfew and rationing of gasoline if they need to. Last edited by atomik kinder; 03-19-2020 at 02:59 PM. |

Managed to get myself into Sainsburys here at 7am due to my own disabilities for some bits and pieces. Sainsbury's being a supermarket chain here in Britain, they took action starting today to only allow the elderly, disabled and vulnerable in for the first hour.
The elderly people despite having an hour moved in very hurriedly, though buying of course in a normal fashion. It seemed evident to me from how they moved about the store some probably hadn't been eating properly in days. I was nearly in tears guy's, struggling to hold it in. What some people have done on this island is f**king disgusting! Where is your civic duty? Where is the Britain that endured aganist the Nazis? |
