NY is not even the most populated state. Why on earth does it have the most number of cases BY FAR??? And the rate it's skyrocketing is absolutely phenomenal! Yesterday, we were a little under 2,000. Now we're over 3,000!!! WTF?!?!

Why? because we have DeBlasio and Cuomo running the show, maybe now NYers will finally wake up and stop voting for these people. So happy DeBlasio is gone in 2021

Cuomo is doing an amazing job right now. The majority of people out there are saying this, not just in NY. He is calm, but frank about the situation, and handling it really well. De Blasio on the other hand is a clown.

I can agree with this somewhat. Queens today had 700 positive cases. NYC is going on a 48 hour shutdown this weekend so things will get interesting. I'm going to Jones Beach later today to get a test done through the drive through process just to give myself peace of mind.

I'm not sure where you heard that, but there are no plans to shutdown NYC right now.

A coworker of mine is being tested right now for the virus. Her brother tested positive for it. Not sure I wanna go to work anymore.

Are you able to get tested? Just for peace of mind perhaps.

I honestly haven't looked into it. I'm scheduled to close tonight but I'm likely going to call and ask about taking the 14 days unpaid. We've got additional sick time but from my understanding we can use either. I'd rather save the sick time.

There is the possibility that your employer might pay you temporarily if they shut it down via the health department for sanitizing.

But that's a secondary concern when it comes to health, so I understand. Here's to hoping.

Anways, just went next door to Tesco Express and they're only allowing 2 bottles of wine max per person. We're all pissheads round here and they know that. So selfish.

p.s for the vast majority of this planet it's not a death sentence and don't assume that it is just because the media will have you believe otherwise. If this whole thing was created to tear the world apart, then you're giving them exactly what they want by having a pop at each other.

I, at least, will keep the alcohol economy ticking along. Oh and you can keep your toilet paper too.....we had to use torn up newspaper back in the day and we'll do it again if we have to!!
Don’t you guys wrap your fish n chips in newspaper? Lol. Come to think of it, I can use some good fish n chips. Haven’t eaten lunch yet. Oh, and a few pints too. At home of course.

Europe - Needs grounded (locked down) like a petulant child
America - buying ammo and toilet paper while government denies it's slow response
Britain - Gets given advice like grown up adults. Populace largely follows advice, on top of grass roots community action not initiated by government.

I know that everything I have ordered so from from Amazon has or is in the process of shipping.
This CNN article says Amazon is adjusting stock of their own products too:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/17/tech/...ies/index.html

"Amazon is trying to make more room on its warehouse shelves for essential goods such as household and medical supplies to keep up with the insatiable demand driven by the coronavirus outbreak.
...
"With this in mind, we are temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies and other high-demand products coming into our fulfillment centers so we can more quickly receive, restock and ship these products to customers," the spokesperson said.
Third-party sellers, which make up nearly 60% of the Amazon marketplace, will also be subject to the new rules.
...
The company's Tuesday announcement means there will be a change in what kinds of products those third-party sellers can send to warehouses to be shipped out by Amazon.
The change is expected to be in effect from March 17 through April 5.
Amazon is also working to change the makeup of the product selection it sells directly, to prioritize essential goods, Amazon senior vice president Jay Carney told CNN's Poppy Harlow Tuesday."

I guess we'll find out in the coming weeks how this affects stock.

This virus will be less deadly than that one, (as a percentage anyway) well under 1% once testing catches up to all the cases. And many cases will never show up because people already recovered without showing symptoms. Hopefully a test will show who has already recovered and thus has relative immunity, so that some of those people can help others, especially the elderly, and we know how many are left at risk.
Sure, here we are, as a species. But how many individuals died from the Spanish Flu in 1918? I'm guessing most of us don't want to be one of the ones that die from this. Of course this won't wipe out humanity. But nobody wants to come down with this, and what it's doing to our economy alone is worth panicking about. This is going to be a bad time for a while.

Actually, if you read the latest reports, almost half of those who have tested positive and have serious symptoms had digestive issues/diarrhea as an early symptom, so they are adding this to the list of symptoms now.
