Reminds me of my 2014 TV Shootout when Joe Kane was speaking about how our eye sees and tracks motion on the TV screen and in real life and after Joe completed his technical explanation, Dr. Larry Weber (Father of PDP) raised his hand and disputed Joe Kane's explanation and presented his take on how we see video motion.

Check out this Youtube video starting at 15:00 through 17:56. Very interesting and funny.

To my eyes, looks like Joe wasn’t too happy with Larry interrupting and contradicting him. As to David, standing behind Larry, I still wonder if David is a Celtic or Rangers fan.

Anyway, tell me this. Previously you mentioned that you had an ophthalmologist as a planned speaker at your next TV shootout. Do you know his specialty, e.g. retina/vitreous, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, research, cataract/glaucoma, etc.?

LordoftheRings, as I know you like your 8K, I hope you took time to read that Megan link above, i.e. 8K tech and VFX.

I read everything you post, every word, every link, I watch every video. I'm here to expand my knowledge.

https://vimeo.com/279953341

I too agree; it's nice to see people like Kris in the neighborhood.
Everyone appreciate his contributions. He attracts good people, polite people, people of respect.
Robert too it's nice to have him aboard. ...Geoff of course, and many more.

It goes without saying how much more relaxing it is here compared to that other place from hell.

HDTV Debut Aug 6 1998 - YouTube
Damn, 20 years ago?!

I remember the whole of 1998 very vividly. I was enjoying a Sony Triniton and a Sony stereo VCR along with a Nintendo 64 at that time. Never knew the future was already being laid out back then.

Crazy if I look back on it now...

Someday you may see people arguing that when the go outside or to a live event it doesn't look as good as their TV.

Of course, with regards to being well informed about the latest thinking (at least from the Univ. of Washington up in Kris’s neck of the woods) on the eyes and brain, I think we here can hold our own on that too, as this is a new study which was just published -

https://secure.jbs.elsevierhealth.co...sent?code=null

^ if that link doesn't go thru, try googling Alzheimers & Dementia journal "Associations between recent and established ophthalmic conditions and risk of Alzheimer's disease"

That may not be such a stretch, don’t get me started on Scott Pruitt’s EPA and what he’s actively trying to pull on us out here in California.

P.S.
Waboman, despite your past claim, I’m thinking you’ve already started to follow the casting call link (from another post) checking to see if any notices appear for beach volleyball players.

Yeah, how come those perfect 50 yard line seats didn't look as good as that HDR10+ livestream of the super bowl.

Since we're all discussing HDMI 2.1 features and the actual HDMI chipset that will be capable to accommodate all of the features and pass the new 48Gbps bandwidth here's some good news.

Marantz and Denon will have a HDMI 2.1 hardware upgrade available for the AV8805, 13.2 channel pre-pro processor, the SR8012 11.2 Audio receiver, and Denon's AVR-X8500H, 13.2 channel receiver.

Once the HDMI chipsets become available Marantz and Denon will send emails to all registered owners announcing the HDMI 2.1 chip/board upgrade program. Although this will not be a free upgrade it does future proof all Marantz and Denon flagship receiver and processors owner with the option to get the real true HDMI 2.1 upgrade.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, tis true. I'm oiled up and ready for my beach volleyball auditions. Although I think there's a thief on set. My suit keeps disappearing.

Umm, on second thought, how ‘bout considering portraying a full clothed bouncer in a local dive bar. That might work.
