That's like saying you should praise Robert Deniro in Dirty Grandpa because hes won an Academy Award.
I'm just saying there is a talented person behind the lens of this movie.

He called Thor 1 "beautiful" and said this movie's cinematography doesn't compare. That movie is hideous looking. It just looks cheap. The earth scenes look like they were filmed in someone's backyard.

Either way I take his opinion with a HUGE grain of salt since he said every MCU movie besides The Incredible Hulk is better than this

Be warned, when you finally do see a film in Dolby Cinema, you won't want to see it any other way. Not even at home.

Whenever people say they'll just wait for 4K releases, because they think it'll result in a better experience at home than in a theater, then I know they've never been to a Dolby Cinema venue.

Even films like 'Baby Driver' and 'IT', which you wouldn't exactly consider HDR juggernauts, still looked exceptional in the format. The color rendering is absolutely unreal. Or, maybe, too real.

not all Dolby Cinema auditoriums are the same - a few have placed the screens so low to the floor, that any light (stair, side wall) will bounce back and illuminate the lower corners of the screen - unacceptable - especially if the scenes are dark, the ancillary light haze becomes painfully obvious and a distraction. Soundwise, I've been to other non-DC Atmos screens that have far superior sound levels and acoustics.

4K SteelBook pre-ordered. For store pickup!
Not waiting and getting caught flat-footed on the pre-orders anymore.

Saw this in IMAX 2D yesterday, it's a 4.5 overall for me. I think Boseman is a very good actor, seen him in 3 or 4 movies so far. Will be interesting to see what assignment he gets in Infinity War.
I think our cinema is a 2K liemax, would have loved to see it in Dolby Cinema or 4k IMAX.

Unfortunately--although I acknowledge this is coming from a different studio--the situation with the Blade Runner 2049 UHD BD Best Buy exclusive Steelbook is something of a cautionary tale in a couple ways. One is pre-orders. There are more than a few dudes in that thread who placed pres way far in advance only to get cancellation e-mails for some reason from Best Buy sometimes a day or two before street. And this film has already outgrossed 2049.

I'd place a pre but still make other plans, such as being at your local BB at opening on street day.

Avengers 1 is easily the blandest looking MCU movie.

I have seen multiple movies in Dolby Cinema, and at more than one theater. I love it; it’s easily the best way to see a new movie in theaters.

That said, I’d still much rather watch a 4K Blu-ray at home.

The last time I went to the theater the guy on my right stunk like sweat and the people to my left had two little children that wouldn't stfu or stop squirming all over their laps. I'll take the 4K UHD home experience any day of the week. I also won't spend more than $5-10 to go to the theater anymore. 2-4 times per year, as a social outing, is plenty enough for me.

Avengers 1 looks great. It's age of ultra that looks horrible. Alotta complaints on forums back in the day when it came out. I had to check my settings on my tv to make sure there wasn't something wrong with my tv.

I suspect we'll get something like these posters for the standard blu-ray/4k edition cover.

I'm just basing my guess on the blu-ray cover for Thor: Ragnarok, which only features the main character. I figure they may do the same for BP.

Ah, fair enough. I liked the choice to use dutch angles in Thor, but I know many do not.

Black Panther cinematography which I pay attention to more than most was ok to me. Like it wasn't breathtaking, phenomenal, and other stuff people are saying online. There were some great shots, but also some bad ones, and a lot of ok. A lot of people are confusing the production design with the cinematography.

I think Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy V.2, and Ragnarok (although I have only seen it once) has the best cinematography so far in the MCU.

I am almost certain it will never happen, but I'd love to see Roger Deakins tackle an MCU film.

If you were basing it on that, then it's going to be the teaser poster.

That's what they used for Thor: Ragnarok and it seems that's what they'll be doing from now on.

Hasn't Disney always used either the teaser or theatrical posters (or a slightly modified variant; GotGV2 having all colors not purple stripped from the background) on their UHD covers? If so, expect one of these;

Hope it's not that first teaser poster with Boseman's head copy-and-pasted onto the body.

The only thing Avengers 1 has going for it visually is the flat AR. The rest of it just looks made-for-TV, which is odd coming from Seamus MacGarvey. His work in Atonement and Godzilla was excellent.

Age of Ultron looked fine to me, just kinda dull. But I stick up for that movie a lot.
