Joss was going for a comic book look he said with it. But he definitely took the criticism to heart as you can tell from the better looking Age of Ultron.

Are these sold only at Best Buy?
Zavvi in the UK will also have a 4K steelbook and a 3D steelbook available. Here's some links to the steelbook forums about them all.

Dude, I totally get that. Believe me, I do.

In fact, back when 'A Monster Calls' was released last January, I had a group of punk ass teenagers ruining that film for myself--and others in attendance--which prompted me to abandon seeing films in my local chain (didn't help that it was at a mall). And, ever since, I've been seeing films in an AMC Theater in Michigan.

So far, I've had nothing but tremendous experiences there. It helps having a good projectionist, who has made damn sure that each viewing experience has been optimal.

I really can't think of a better way than seeing a film than in Dolby Cinema, provided the video and audio is mastered in that format.

That's what they used for Thor: Ragnarok and it seems that's what they'll be doing from now on.

Wasn't this the teaser poster?

If so, I hope it's not what they use for the blu-ray. The head looks pasted on.

I doubt that they'll use this for the blu-ray...

When they didn't use this for Ragnarok's blu-ray:

So Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) is the first Dolby Vision disc for Disney. I see Black Panther as the next one.

Looks like I need to get a second Blu-ray player for the Black Panther release. The X800 doesn't support DV.

I think the newer X700 is supposed to support DV with a firmware update soon.

Don't bet on "soon", us Sony TV owners have been waiting 14 months now and still no date set for Europe!

I've been burned too many times by companies.

I'm tired of spending my money based on a "promise". Companies don't seem to care anymore. You already paid, whether they provide the firmware and it doesn't work well, or never provide it - they already got your money and have moved on to next year's model.... but don't worry, that one is much better... after the promised firmware update due out... oh, let's just say... next summer? Which will change to sometime in 2018, which will turn into early 2019... which will turn into - hey, check out our 2019 models!...

Am I jaded... yeah, yeah I am.

I will be waiting to purchase a new player once I see these players actually get the DV update, and see that it actually works. I will no longer be paying for promises.

Aaaaand, end rant.

Btw - saw BP. Fun movie. No way this doesn't look stellar on UHD.

That would be amazing.

This film looked insane in Dolby Cinema, so the home release for this, with Dolby Vision, I'm sure would be a jaw dropper.

Definitely!

Dolby Vision + Native 4K DI and Dolby Atmos? Don't mind if I do

Nah, you know what? I’m STILL thinking it’ll be the one I posted for the cover of the regular release. It’s also currently the placeholder art.

Of course, your only safe option is the Oppo.

Only thing I really hope to see with this release is the inclusion of the IMAX scenes in full glory like in The Dark Knight. Kills me when it’s overlooked for other releases.
