I went ahead and placed the 4K steelbook just took be safe.

This is a blind buy for me as well. But I'm not concerned because everyone I know that has seen it...raved about it!

I pre-ordered the Steelbook as well! It just looks to damn good!!

Finally saw this in theaters. It's good. But I'd probably rank it somewhere in the middle for MCU movies.

Will this be released in true 4K or 2K upscaled? I don't have a 4K TV yet but trying to future proof myself and getting it now. I know a lot of Marvel movies lately have been in 4K but have been upscaled to 4K. Hope this is not the case here. Can any one chime in?

Reports so far are that this one will be from a 4K DCP using upscaled 2K VFX renders. Considering the volume of VFX shots in this movie, I think we will be seeing very little native 4K on the disc.

Avengers: Infinity War is alleged to be Marvel's first 100% 4K DCP (inclusive of VFX renders).

To each their own, but if these are the concerns you have before jumping into the format....hmmmm you have got a lot to learn brother...

I went ahead and placed the 4K steelbook just took be safe.

The Last Jedi 4K steelbook was pretty well stocked and is still easily attainable.

I was only asking. Still new to the 4K thing and not sure what's real 4K and what's fake 4K. I'm sure there are many people here that has more knowledge in this field than I do. Even though I don't have a 4K TV yet I still like to think of myself somewhat knowledgeable to some degree. I keep up on all the 4K happenings and buy what I can that has 4K.

Well, the primary point for your further edification is that the "real or fake" question really isn't very important. The added spatial resolution of a native 4K transfer, while noticeable and appreciable, is far from the most visually-significant advantage the format provides. Contrast range and color-reproduction take center stage and there is no handy-dandy chart delineating the realness or "fakeness" of those qualities.

If you want to see real 4K I suggest you get Dark Tower and Billy Lynn, once you upgrade to 4K

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. I think Dunkirk will also be one of the first ones I'll check out.
