Wow just watched the VUDU UHD version through Apple TV 4K and it looks much nicer. The "grey" sequences are now more consistent with the colorful sequences.

Thinking Apple must be boosting color I tried out a few other movies and they looked normal to me. The new Jurassic Park UHD is even kinda dull looking. I suppose the built-in VUDU UHD streaming/processing is just not that good on my TV and/or Dolby Vision over HDMI is better somehow and the Apple TV has some good color processing.

Anyway I'm eager to watch the disc! And maybe get a Dolby Vision capable player...

About the cost of buying the 4K version and importing a 3D version with the only difference being they're both in one package.

Also I'm pretty sure I've never had to pay exchange rate fees on Amazon Japan.

Yep, my expectations couldn't be lower. Doesn't seem like an issue Disney in any rush to correct.

Huh. I just bought the four Jurassic Park Steelbooks for $12.49 EUR each from Amazon France and including shipping the total converts about exactly to the USD I paid, so no fees. Do you use Amazon's global payment thing?

That would seem to be a rather large error in judgement by the corporate suits. When Civil War came out, the Black Panther character was very intriguing and you could predict that a solo movie would do well with the typical MCU fans and, in addition, with African-American moviegoers. A movie featuring a Black super hero and an almost all black cast could attract a ton of new customers. Who wudda thunk it? Apparently, not Disney.

Disney goes by past data and numbers, and there wasn't that much data for stuff like Black Panther.

IMO, the movie did well because it was better than anyone expected and had a great release date with basically no competition for months.

Just a tip, in case you are looking to buy a DV player. I found this out yesterday: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...0#post15048170

Good to know, thanks! Was gonna wait until the end of summer when I upgrade to the Vizio P65 Quantum and Atmos 5.1.4 soundbar, to see if anything newer is available, but those prices are tempting!

That said a lot of Marvel movies have some shocking CG so it's not just Black Panther.

You guys it's not "cheap CGI" - not at all.

It's TIME. All these MCU films have *thousands* of VFX CG shots, with something like a dozen different vendors (and some vendors are just plain better than others - you can't have ILM do the entire film because ILM is busy with several other different projects). They have a hard release date decided years in advance. They do the best they can with the time allotted to them.

Amazon did not buy the rights over the sales of this title

Most of the CGI in marvel movies is good. Some isn't. Same with this movie. 99% of it is good. The only issue I had with it was the end fight between black panther and killmonger. That fight looked too CG.
