Told my wife the Walmart near work was sold out so she surprised me and picked up the last copy near my house. Gonna be a great weekend.

Said it before and I’ll say it again, your wife

That’s awesome of her! When you going to throw this in the rotation?

She’s a keeper. Probably Saturday. Out of the 4 I picked up today it’s last on my list.

I'd venture to say that it looks so great because of the way it was shot and stylized. 4K or 2K DI has less to do with it's greatness than you are putting stock into.
Well, after sampling it for a few minutes, I independently came to the conclusion that it has a digital intermediate that's above 2K, because it looks much sharper and more detailed than any 2K DI that I've seen. My own conclusion drove me to visit Real or Fake 4K and not the other way around. As for your insistance that its picture quality is due to how it was shot, I disagree, because the best looking 2K DI, which is Transformers: The Last Knight, has colors that are just as rich, but the overall image isn't quite as sharp and detailed, especially in regard to skin textures.

BP's 3rd weekend was bigger than IW's third weekend. I suspect BP will outgross IW for the rest of IW's run in the theater. So the question for me is, "does IW have a large enough lead that it can stay ahead of BP?"

IW's daily grosses (adjusted for ticket price and population increases) fell behind Avengers 1 after IW's monster first week.

In other words, IW seems to be very front loaded. If it does beat BP at the domestic box office, I think it'll be by less than 5%.

I loved IW but the closeness is really a testament to how much BP struck a cord with American viewers.

It had to be front loaded, Disney needs space to launch Solo.

There were around 30 SteelBooks up front at my Best Buy at opening, roughly evenly split between 4K and BD. I didn't check back in the media department. I splurged on the 4K even tho' I don't own a proper set yet cuz I redeemed some Shopkick points. I really miss the more clever designs these BB exclusive Marvel Studios SBs used to have in the past, like for Ant-Man, for Doctor Strange, and for Guardians V1.

My Walmart had none. Were they sold out, or didn't they get any to begin with?

Mine also had none. They didn’t get Thor: Ragnarok on 4K until the second week of release.

I have an LG C7 that was calibrated for HDR-10 when I bought it. Dolby Vision calibration was not yet available. I watched a few minutes of BP in Dolby Vision and then by forcing my Oppo-203 into HDR mode with an 800nit brightness target. I normally prefer DV but for some reason BP looked better in HDR-10. The image wasn't quite as bright but looked more vibrant with better color saturation. I may have to play around with the C7's DV settings in Cinema mode but I was surprised with the initial results. The audio track wasn't bad but did, as most reviews have noted, require a higher volume level than I'm used to.

Amazon customer service outright gave me $5 for the price drop today, and also waived same day delivery cost since I explained they didn’t offer preorders and I could just get this at the store.

It's more than just the volume that's an issue with current Disney home mixes. They're dynamically squashing them and dialing back the bass as well.

They're probably making these near-field mixes soundbar friendly.

Soundbars... the enemy of great audio.

Walmart employees clearly don’t understand what 4K is went to 2 different Walmart’s and they both said they had plenty copy’s when I got there and I found non and I asked them where they was at they said they only had 2 copy’s of the 4K and they sold out early. So went to target and they had a lot and they areafy priced matched Walmart’s price no problem.

Hey, now. You made my soundbar cry.

But yeah, the PQ was great and the sound a bit disappointing. Although, I didn't get to turn it up as loud as I normally would.

Strangely enough, it works totally fine on my Samsung UBD K8500.

Appreciate any help. Thanks!
That's weird, I had issues with it freezing on my Samsung UBD K8500 and had to play it on my Xbox 1 X.

Somewhat disappointed in PQ. Dolby Vision picture on my LG Oled C6 looked badly crushed. If I raise brightness the bars lit up like Christmas trees. It's almost like they intentionally crushed blacks at brightness 50 to get rid of glowing bars...Only now all details have been obliterated.

Same here, watching right now and very disappointed with Disney's low dynamic sound mix. I usually watch movies at -12db and this one at -3db and still lacks dynamic range. Not sure why they author their movies like this, it might sound ok with a build in tv speakers or soundbar or something like this but not at all ok if you own a sophisticated home theater system.

This is going to be the last Disney disk I bought until I read they figure out how to properly do the authoring of the sound on their UHD disks
