Looks like one third of the movies in your collection are 3D blu ray

I'm not here to bash the 4K format. I actually embrace it for certain titles. I think I only have 32 UHD so far but the number keeps growing. I try to get 4K/3D combo packs when there's an option but for the most part I'll pick the 3D over the 4K with the Marvel movies.....especially if there's IMAX shifting ratios. If I wasn't already invested into 3D I'd absolutely get the 4K and I'd recommend the 4K to anyone who isn't 3D capable. This movie is certain to look amazing in either format. There were some great shots and brilliant colors throughout the movie that will no doubt look splendid in 4K.

As for those other 3D guys in here stepping on all the toes (I never see them in the 3D forums though so I don't know them at all) it made me think of this.....

I haven't updated my collection in years. Most of the 3D blu rays I had were gifts.

Nevertheless, my statement still stands.

I hope the 4K version keeps the shifting aspect ratios in the IMAX screenings.

I looked at my invoice for the 4K Steelbook and it has a release date of Tuesday May 15th.

If Guardians and Thor 3 (did it have expanded AR for IMAX?) didn't have it then I doubt this will, too. Not to mention other Disney movies like Beauty and the Beast.

But I'd love for them to start with Black Panther.

Seeing this in Dolby Cinema tonight.

IMAX is so antiquated by comparison, unfortunately.

"IMAX-laser 3D" reinvented the whole cinematic film going experience

saw in 2D, was maybe going to see in IMAX 3D next week, but, only showing in IMAX 2D, (including the IMAX further away) ...is this one of those that's only in IMAX 3D in the laser theaters? (Wish I lived near one of those! OR a Dolby Cinema.)

I couldn't watch the whole thing, torture scenes were too much for me.

(I like Ryan Gosling as an actor but he is a better actor than director also).

...is this worth going to IMAX 2D, or should I see in RealD 3D?

I've never been impressed with RealD 3D, IMAX 3D is so much more immersive.

I hate any type of 3D. I prefer IMAX 2D to anything else, considering we're getting the 26% more image on the top and bottom.

if you're talking about a IMAX-liemax presentation on a 1.78 screen - with 2K DLP/6-track sound, now that IS antiquated.

I haven't seen it in RealD 3D, but the IMAX 2D was amazing, I definitely recommend seeing it in IMAX

I went with Real D, cause also just IMAX 2D here. The 3D on the movie was very solid, though as often is the case outside of IMAX, presentation quality can be hit and miss, and they improperly set the masking to 1.85 (you could see some outlines of cut off image behind the masking at various points) and also seemed to be projecting it a bit dark, which did take away from the experience.

I may see it again in theaters for IMAX. Dolby Cinema is cool as well , but aside from the incredible black levels would say I prefer IMAX laser in image quality, sound, and particularly the far bigger screen size

and IMAX-laser doesn't have those goddamn pseudo D-Box 'rumble' effect that Dolby Cinema recliners have --- ugh! so distracting

Funny enough we had this whole discussion of wanting Disney to keep the shifting aspect ratios of the imax scenes in the Thor 3 thread. But in reality its not happening unless its on 3D Blu Ray which people have bashed here haha. Imax scenes on 3d Blu > cropped 4k

This film is going to be a visual juggernaut once it hits UHD.

Easily the best looking film I've seen in the Dolby Cinema format so far. The colors on the Wakanda tribe outfits looked so damn lifelike, it was insane.

Also might want to poke one of your eyes out for good measure since humans actually see the world in 3D and you wouldn't want that "gimmicky trash" in your life.

It's a transducer, like having the sub in the back of your chair. It's quite effective for low bass.
IMAX theaters seem to never have decent low-end bass, probably because there's no dedicated LFE.
