I finally got around to seeing Black Panther on sunday... I saw it in 4K, and might watch the 3D version , but maybe not since the movie was pretty bland.
Bad fights. Like boring, not exciting and slow paced as in you can see the actors thinking too much about the choreography while doing the moves. There is a scene in some club where black panthers guard has a spear and it swinging it around knocking people over , but shes not putting any force or speed into the hits so it took me out of the immersion. Even the main character , ole panther himself was not exciting to watch fight. Nor was he likable. Sure he was a good guy but he was a very boring guy too. Killmonger and the leader of the gorilla tribe were far more fun to watch on screen. The CG was very bad through the movie. The story was very basic and very predictable. It was marvel paint by numbers. Many spots where it looked like the star wars prequels where you can see a major separation between the characters and the green screen. Big disappointment after how highly people talked about this movie. |

I've heard the 3D version is really good, maybe I'll give that a shot next time. I own every Marvel movie, but this one didn't do much for me... |

Spider-man Homecoming is a joint effort by Sony and Marvel, but it is still very much Sony's baby. As far as I know anyway.

No. Sony was only the distributor. Marvel has full control over the character until it expires, which I believe is after Homecoming 2.

I liked all three of 'em. BP for its "pure black excellence", Homecoming for its cute 'high school movie' vibe, and Ragnarok because it's funny as ****. It's a crown!

1. Black Panther
2. Spider-Man Homecoming . . . . . 3. Thor Ragnarok Quote:
I thought it was really good. One of the better Spider-Man movies to come out in a while. Maybe 10 years. It largely depends on my mood though, as I tend to flip-flop on the Andrew Garfield movies a good bit. I think it's second behind Black Panther in terms of overall quality with regard to the 3 most recently released "Marvel" movies aside from Infinity War. What about the other Spider-Man movie coming out at the end of this year and the Venom movie in October? Wouldn't that indicate that Sony has control of the character? Or is it only the Peter Parker Spider-Man that Sony doesn't have control of. |

I liked every other spiderman movie more than Homecoming. Homecoming didnt have what made peter a great character. Responsibility. In homecoming he faced no consequences and took no responsibility for anything.
I still cant see what people thought was good about black panther... I need to watch my copy of infinity war soon. Though my 3D copy doesnt come until september.... |

I agree with that assessment of Peter. Though I wonder if he hasn't reached that point yet where he's learned what responsibility is. We don't know what happened to Aunt May, though it was speculated something bad happened. Though I'm sure they're referring to Ben. Also, Peter is still in high school and, generally speaking, high schoolers are not known for being the most responsible people out there. So that may have something to do with it too. Peter acts really petulant and it kinda gets on my nerves, but then Peter did fight alongside Iron Man and other Avengers to try to help bring Captain America and his crew in to justice. So I can see where that would go to a teenager's head in a big way. I guess that's part of why I like the movie so much. There's just a lot of layers to things.

My one complaint about Homecoming is that Peter doesn't invent things, he has uncle Tony just give him all the toys. It's still easily the best Spidey movie since Spider-Man 2 (though I can't help mentioning for the millionth time that ASM2's Spidey scenes are borderline brilliant).
