Well you're in the minority on many fronts with this movie. Your talk of the villain seems more praise than not. I could link numerous reviews and/or thinkpieces praising Killmonger as a villain.

You have to be trolling at this point. A movie shot by a freshly oscar nominated cinematographer is not as beautiful as a movie that looks like it was shot in a junk yard!? A lot of MCU movies are ugly, but Thor takes the cake, and this is coming from someone who likes it more than most people.

I’m torn on whether to blind buy this. I fell for the Dr Strange hype, and couldn’t even get through the whole thing. Now this movie is being hyped up, but it’s another Coogler/Micheal B Jordan movie. I loved Fruitvale Station and Creed.

I'll be giving it a rental. Fortunately, I have a Family Video store a mile down the road which usually stocks one UHD BD copy for new releases. $3.50 a night. If couldn't rent it, I would probably buy it, sell off the code, and then sell the movie if I didn't want to re-watch it; I'm guessing it becomes a $6 or $7 at most out of pocket cost or "rental" which is still not bad for a UHD BD viewing.

Saw this a second time and the presentation was a mess. The theater equivalent of the "front right" speakers were turned way down. When a character spoke from screen left -- no problem hearing what they said --on the right it was a whisper. Many lines of dialogue were lost.

Next the "brightness" was turned waaay down and scenes that I had no problem seeing on Friday were very hard to make out.

The
[Show spoiler]early jungle battle was confusing, the casino, M'Baku's "throne" room
and all the rest were a pain in the ass to make out.
I feel sorry for all the folks who were seeing it for the first time.

So, DVD, Blu-ray, UHD or 3D -- you will al be seeing it better at home unless your set-up is seriously off.

It looks like Black Panther is the first Marvel 4k DI, even though the DCPs are 2k. From the March 2018 American Cinematographer article:

"And the final color grade was performed by Technicolor senior colorist Maxine Gervais working in 4K resolution on a FilmLight Baselight system in Los Angeles."

And just to give you an idea of how good the HDR looked in Dolby Cinema, Maxine Gervais also colored Pacific Rim.

This is a movie that would really benefit from the highest resolution possible. The BP suit alone looked fantastic in IMAX.

Is that a possibility that other Marvel movies those released only in 2K DCP are actually finished on 4K? or other movie studios does that too?

No. All the previous Marvel films are confirmed to have 2k DIs. But occasionally other studios do only release 2k DCPs on films with 4K DIs.

Spatial resolution will be interesting on this one, if they bother to go back to the 4K DI to produce the disc (and you can ask “Why wouldn’t they?”, but I would counter “Why wouldn’t they issue a 4K DCP?”). I don’t know the raw percentage of CGI shots (which will be 2K upscales) in this movie, but it’s substanial. I think this master might be pinging back and forth between 2K and 4K shots at a neck-snapping pace.

Glad that this apparently got a 4K finish, should look great. VFX looked a bit shoddy here and there (those rhinos...), but that's the case with most Marvel movies. The sheer amount of VFX and tight turnarounds means some stuff gets more attention than others. HDR should help.

I hope you complained to a manager - I've done that in the past, and they give a readmit pass.

Preordered the 4K Steelbook. Normally I wait until a release date is announced, but this movie is so good and I don’t want to take any chances with availability. It was hard enough for some of my friends to get tickets to see it lol.

What does being nominated for another film have to do with this film? 🤣

That's like saying you should praise Robert Deniro in Dirty Grandpa because hes won an Academy Award.
