I pre-ordered from Deep Discount, they shipped my set on 9/27 but USPS tracking still shows "pre-shipment;" can't wait for it to arrive to dig in.

Well I watched Leprechaun Origins last night and I have to say - the hate is way overblown. Sure not everyone agrees on movies, but it really is not that bad. 3.3 on IMDb? There are plenty of worse movies with better ratings.

The movie was nothing special, it was predictable and average at best, but I can see now that most of the hate is clearly coming from those who wanted Warlock version of Leprechaun (as I suspected). The acting in this was actually surprisingly solid from the main cast IMO, it had some good, if mild, gore, and the story was fine for the type of movie it was. It was rather typical all around, so while I’m not saying it should be a new favourite, it certainly doesn’t deserve the rather extreme hate it’s getting.

Though I tend to enjoy most movies and can most always find something I like about them, I still think this one is unfairly hated because of expectations due to the Leprechaun name. Sure people will say even as a non-Leprechaun movie it’s no good, to that I say oh well, and see above for a different opinion. Obviously everyone is entitled to an opinion but come on people, it’s not like the remade/rebooted a classic revered film, they rebooted a trashy series that was never all that well liked outside of a niche group.

Couldn't sleep (work nights so right now is like my 3am) so I put on Leprechaun 4, and wow. It's so surreal to see this in 1080p and DTS-HD MA. Especially the effects. The whole thing is so thoroughly produced with VHS/SD TV presentation in mind, it's fascinating to see it very much removed from that

The color timing on Leprechaun 4 is so bad, from the caps that were posted it looks like the same print with the shitty blue filter over it.

I was disappointed that the making-of portion of Leprechaun in the Hood was so short, it was the shortest of the 6. That one's my favorite in the series.

Anyone else notice the audio mess up on the Leprechaun In The Hood documentary? About 18 minutes in the audio should have been lowered and it wasn't, overlapping the people being interviewed.

Yeah I was watching that earlier tonight, sounds like they intended to have the songs muted in the background and the interviewees over it louder but accidentally swapped the two... Still, I'm just over the moon that this series got making of docs, commentaries and decent widescreen presentations for once in their lifespan! Better treatment than lionsgate gave the recent saw collection for sure...

Origins was one of the worst creature feature films I have pretty much ever seen, Really no gore to speak of, no real scares and a stupid looking creature. He looked liked a vampire in the middle of a transformation. There was just nothing to this movie. It was so boring and just plain cheap. I can not get over the crappy Predator vision and design of the Leprechaun, plus 90% of the shots showing him were either shaky cammed to hell or blurry/out of focus. This felt like a SyFy original movie but even some of those at least have gore or nudity, this was just 4 stupid teens and an old Irish Dad and his Son, so 6 Main cast members, it was more like a early 2000 Charles Band movie than a 2014 Horror Reboot of a Cult movie franchise. The simplest way I can explain this is, Imagine if they took Freddy Kruger and made him into a burnt gorilla that grunts like a pig. WWE really ruined the Leprechaun franchise. It's hard to believe that taking the character to Ireland was worse that taking him into Space or the Hood. 0/10 or a F-

They're a company who's putting out a movie that I've been heavily anticipating for a long time in See No Evil 2. But as far as Origins goes, I'll reserve judgement for when I see it but my expectations are extremely low.

ok i have a question, i saw this in walmart tonight. i was going to wait and see if amazon offered it cheaper (also have prime), however amazon has it listed and says that there are problems with it so they are not taking orders or sending it out...the question is, what is messed up with it if anyone knows?

all i see in reviews on there are how bad the movies are...i mean come on were they really expecting academy award winning films with these?

if the movies are watchable and there aren't any problems i might pick this up. thanks for any help and responses.

... and the failed at pleasing the only fans of that niche franchise.

[Show spoiler]Its like turning Jason into a zombie koala and throwing on a hockey mask and calling the movie Friday the 13th: Origins. lol The Leprechaun is literally not a Leprechaun in the definition established by the franchise.

In all honesty, it seems to me like they ripped off a rip-off of the movie they were remaking. A syfy channel movie that came out a couple years back has a similar leprechaun in it... did they even know what movie they were making

Yah I guess you're right. Point taken.
I still didn't find it that bad. I'm certianly not eager to watch it again but I think non-fans (and perhaps some fans) would find it a serviceable time waster. I don't find it any worse than the Wrong Turn sequels (3-5 anyway).

Edit:

There are no comedy elements, the only thing that slightly resembles comedy is a really cheesey one liner and how often people fall down.
