That's his official announcement. He frequently writes about himself in the third person on his blog, as if he's a lowly intern or something, running the site, haha.

I am surprised that this movie never even got a Blu-ray release here in the U.S. I recognize that the movie didn't perform well at the box office but it's reputation has grown since then and has developed a fan following. I suppose that I just need to buy a region-free 4k UHD player.

You need to do it thru your remote control on the 4K player...and not thru the actual disc's onscreen menu.

Finally watched this and with me not being your major compression nitpicker, this looked fine to me. I did spot some chroma when just watching the movie as well (mentioned it initially as well), but I'm just not as sensitive to it as others when actually watching the movie. Same goes for the compression. As Phil said: different displays, people, sensitivities. I'm not saying the issues aren't there.

While DV is not supposed to fix borked HDR10 layers

, it'd still be nice to know, if the DV fixes the chroma and the bigger compression issues. And with FEL encodes, as pathetic as borked HDR10 layers are, at the end of the day, one has to judge the DV layer I'm afraid. So some thoughts from DV users would be nice - ideally, the major issues will be gone with a second viewing (on a new display).

Anyway, I didn't own this before and was/am fine with this. Same as with Oldboy, I'd also upgrade for proper encoding though. For now it's the best version there is AFAICT (and might very well remain I guess).

The US Weathering With You release.

The Finnish Greenland release.

Watched this today, to my untrained eye, this looks really good, Id forgotten what a great film this is, Terence Stamp is amazing.

As an aside, I met Stamp on a top deck of a 29 bus in Wood Green about 20 years ago, a nicer person you'll not meet, a real gentleman, he was very pleased to hear that one of my favourite films of his was The Hit, which is due a release in UK I reckon

Dosen't look like this is coming domestically here in the US (?) so I'll probably pick up the French 4K, I see it on Amazon.fr, is anyone aware of it being available to order elsewhere - I don't speak/read French so ordering from .fr is a little complicated even with translation.

You can buy most foreign items through Amazon US too. Just find the ASIN (Amazon stock number) on the foreign page and copy and paste it into the search engine on the American page. You can't find such items by using the regular search engine, the algorithm buries them beneath 1000 unrelated items.

Sometimes, they're sold by Amazon Global Store, which means the Amazon outlet in that country ships it straight to you. In this case, that option isn't available in the US, so you have to buy from a third party, at a slightly inflated price.

Honestly, using foreign Amazon sites isn't that bad if you've used the US site before. I've bought from Amazon Japan and I don't know a word of Japanese, but all the buttons are exactly the same, so I just hit the buttons I'd hit at Amazon US, even though I can't tell what they say.

- I buy from the various Amazon sites (Japan, France, UK) but was getting caught out by some of the button options on the French one yesterday and it took a while to figure out how to unsubscribe from their local Prime (smile)

I'm off to difg up some other ASIN's (smile)....

If the encode is improved, I’ll definitely be upgrading from the French disc.
