People need to understand that just because a movie is graded on a display that is 1000, 4000 or even 10000 nits does not mean they use all the brightness. Just like you can grade a black and white movie on a color monitor.

Since PQ is absolute, it should track it perfectly and stop at the contents upper limit. However, I know someone at one studio that wanted displays to stretch the content to use the full capability of the display, which goes against the idea of an absolute curve.

Sony, LG Electronics, Panasonic and Skyworth get their panels from LG Display. I just wanted to make it clear that LGE and LGD are not the same company and LGD does not share info with LGE about their other partners. It is an interesting situation.
