Not sure why anyone would believe the dealer m/u is higher on 8K TVs. The actual m/u % is actually lower on 8K TVs, but due to the higher price the dollar revenue may be higher in some models or transactions. But the G/P % is actually lower.

8K is not for everyone, but having choices is a good thing and I look forward to LG's 88" 8K OLED, Samsung's Micro LED, Sharp's dual cell 8K LCD and we're loving Sony's 8K Z9G as are our clients who are enjoying the stunning picture quality.

For all members and visitors reading this thread I suggest stopping by our showroom or if you have a local dealer who has these new 8K TVs on display so you can see these beautiful new advanced displays with your own eyes.

1st, is that the manufacturers are putting the very best display panels exclusively into the 8K TV series. Some good example are; Sony bringing back the highly respected Backlight Master Drive in the 8K Z9G. LG developed a native 8K 88" OLED module for the Z9P and Samsung is coming out with the Micro LED. Sharp will launch the dual cell LCD 75" 8K TV in Q1 2020.

2nd, Each TV manufacturer has also put the best video processing SoCs, like LG's new a9 Gen 2 PRO for the 88" 8K OLED and Sony retuned the flagship X1 Ultimate.

- 2b, bonus, the video processing is so well designed that 4K HDR looks stunning on these 8K TV as does FHD SDR. I've spend a lot of time with Sony's Z9G and Samsung's Q900R and tested and evaluated all sorts of varied content.

3rd, as an amateur enthusiasts photographer, I will be buying Sharp's consumer 8K camera and creating my own native 8K content.

In the end if you want the best TV, like it or not it's an 8K TV.
As long as manufacturers make it the premium format market it correctly and the hardware matches the name then consumers will adjust. People did it for years with a PC you had 1080P displays and 1440P displays. I know we are comparing apples to oranges here, what we do on these forums with displays and AV enthusiasts are the Crutchfield crowd. As soon as manufacturers understand that and can relate it properly to their shareholders to justify then the market will adjust as it should. Will we as enthusiasts pay more for what we want, of course we will, streaming s fine for my family, it is not fine for me. I want lossless, I want an uncompressed image but im also the minority and I know this.

BB/Magnolia Design locally still doesn't have the 8k Z9G Sony on display (ETA about month from now).

The PQ of 8K 75" Samsung Q900 QLED vs the 4K OLED77C9 just on the other side of it didn't entice me at all towards the Q900. Both showing Mortal Engines 4K.

Its funny that Samsung, who seems to be a primary backer of 8K displays have already announced they will not be making anymore blu ray players. Think about that for a moment. They won't even support their own 8K displays with 8 Kblu ray players.

Shows again you complain about something you don’t know what you’re talking about. Even if Samsung wants to have 8K bd player, how are they going to make one? There is no standard for 8K physical media at all.

And Samsung is not the primary backer. Sony have released an 8K TV with LG and B&O releasing 8K TVs soon.

"It may seem like a lifetime since the last video format war, but it’s been barely a decade since Blu-ray trounced HD DVD. The format, backed by Sony, brought full HD video into homes just as HDTVs became affordable, and it was ready for the future with enough capacity for 4K video. Nothing lasts forever, but Blu-ray is waning faster than anyone in the early 2000s would have expected. Samsung has announced that it is done making new Blu-ray players."

It doesn't matter, 2K, 4K or 8K, Samsung have decided that optical disc is no longer apart of their future. At the same time they are introducing to the market 8K TV's. The poster that I responded to doesn't like the idea of streaming video, however that's the future. 2K, 4K and 8K streaming is problematic right now. Much to his displeasure, the hope of 8K blu ray disc doesn't seem bright.

In my opinion, 4K HDR content, particularly as far optical disc is concerned, is severely lacking. The vast majority of content is still contained on DVD and Blu Ray and by comparison, 4K blu ray is a joke.

The first 8K TV I saw was a Samsung. I know Sony and LG is in the 8K game. However Samsung is the Alpha when it comes to TV manufacturers. So as Samsung goes, so goes the market in general. Anyway, I said Samsung was A primary backer.

That’s was based on what YOU read.

The first in 8K was NHK (Japan) and the displays for the flat panel showcase was done by Sharp, then Sony. So they were the first.

Samsung is only an “alpha” if you’re talking about marketshare, not quality. If you like quantity, more power to you. I tend to gravitate towards quality.

I'm waiting for 8K rollable OLEDs which IMHO is the future. You can place it in the middle of a room, or in front of a window. No more of this against the wall or above a fireplace. No more being so careful staging the gigantic display. Easier for Robert to store them in stock also!

I'm not going to even get into quality, that's a debate for the display technology threads. However, I'am talking market share, yes that's correct that's what makes a company number one and a primary influence on how the market goes. That said, I find Samsung strategy to to be odd, they are backing 8K TV, yet their target seems to be those that mostly stream content. Streaming 8K is problematic.

Samsung exiting the BD player business has nothing to do with their support for 8K TVs They are not related issues.

You don’t want to debate is because you can not debate it. Do you see Samsung display product in professional world? no. You see mostly Sony or Panasonic with some exceptions here and there, but never Samsung.

This is NOT to say that their products are crap, but top of the top tier in terms of picture quality is not their target market. All they care is to dominate the marketshare and they are doing a very good job at that.
