Not enough time, money, tech, take your pic. As long as 2K is still "good enough" for the average cinemagoer - and make no mistake, these things are being finished for the theatrical environment first and foremost - then it's going to be a hard habit to break, not to mention having more films than ever which demand thousands of VFX shots to be delivered inside mere months rather than years and such things don't just fall from the sky. Reality's a b*tch.

beyond the 10-bit DPX type of workflows. Studios who contribute Tech specs to the imdb should more often include whether the motion picture was finished with, for example, 10-bit DPX files or a 16-bit OpenEXR ACES method, because it arguably makes as much difference in picture quality as does the finish resolution if you’re already using a high-rez (4K or greater) digital camera, as Daryn explains in the YouTube clip from a past NAB which I linked above. |

I'm not sure the studios do much submitting to IMDB's tech specs at all, unless you know something I don't. Seems like any numpty can submit whatever nonsense they want, but that's the internet for you.
As for finishing in dat sweet sweet 16-bit and a wider gamut like ACES there are people on here who think all that stuff is snake oil anyway, so I'm not sure what difference it'd make. They'd probably think it was the audio bit depth being referred to half the time. |

I wish IMDB wouldn't put "Dolby Vision" under cinematographic process either, a lot of people are taking that as something being physically "shot" in Dolby Vision when you can't do anything of the sort. I saw HDR10 listed under that too for a movie I checked the other day, which again is nonsense because HDR10 is purely a home video construct. |

Oh, they contribute from time to time…..not that the studio reps (staffers) get it right all the time….hardly that, as I think there are several examples of thee old switcheroo of Tech specs for several motion pictures.

That ^ said, in cases in which the guys and gals who have actually worked on the respective motion picture/show, themselves directly make contributions to IMDB like so – http://acescentral.com/t/how-can-i-a...-shotonwhat/47
I’ve heard of no input errors. |

Keep an eye out for information on the movie "Rampage" with the Rock. Imbd.com says it was filmed with the Alexa 65, curious if it got a 4k master. Trailer looks pretty entertaining and will look great on 4k Blu Ray (Warner Brothers distribution and New Line Cinema, same as IT). April 20th theater release.

Since it's a widely know issue, and MANY people hate the new Yellow push that seems to have become the fashion in a LOT of 4K releases, it would be very useful for people buying 4K upgrades of their favorite movies.
To help people not to waste their money on what I consider horrible Yellow Pushed transfers in 4K, it would be nice to have a seperate Sticky List that indicates whether a 4K release is Yellow Pushed or uses a palette similar to the original. That way they don't end up watching their favorite movies full of actors looking like they've all contracted Malaria, and the Sun has turned a horrible sepia yellow, and is only a show of it's original golden magnificence.... Alternatively, and indicator could be added to one of the existing Sticky 4K Movie lists...... |

First I've heard of this "widely known issue" that "MANY people" hate. Would love to have some examples since it's such a terribly pervasive problem.

dafuq are you talking about? The movie was intentionally graded for that look and the UHD replicates it perfectly, it's not something that's been foisted upon the image during the HDR grading which is what matey seems to be driving at.
