Thanks Underworld54 now I can officially cancel my pre-order and just wait for the EE instead of double dipping.
+1. Some people might not go to the thread "LOTR released in 2009" to get the news that it's delayed till 2010.

should we take bets on when the thread gets updated to reflect the delay...and thus making this thread useless?

I actually wonder if they'll cancel the current pre-orders. It would be highly unfair to those who had it as part of the B2G1 deal and already paid full price for the first two sets/movies.

I know EE is later down the line, I just want to experience it in HD.
I don't mind double dipping anyways...

I get so sick of this sh*t. Can't believe they didn't want it to get "lost" in the shuffle of all their big titles coming out at the same time. Are you f'n kidding me, LOTR trilogy get lost in shuffle of all the releases and sell poorly, LOL, absurd. I'm tired of the studios thinking like this. Just release the big guns and people will buy them...all!!!

I don't understand getting a shorter, less amazing version of a movie that already has an upgrade announced. Buying something and later double-dipping because a super...er version comes out down the line is one thing. Specifically buying a version that will be obsolete within months? If people have money they just want to toss around, I'm not above donations

I can see that they feel more people will be more HD compatible after the holidays. Make perfect sense marketing wise. But I don't see the logic about not releasing it this year. It would be the biggest seller this year probably of any BD collection. I could've seen this on a lot of Christmas lists.

Well it looks likes a lot of people are going to be getting a lot of sweaters and neck ties instead.

Same with me. I have no interest in the theatrical cuts.

Well, looking at the positive side of this, I'll save about 60-70 dollars this novemeber and that will allow me to buy Gone with Wind and other titles.
But damn I really wanted LOTR boxset. I like both versions, the theatrical ones and the extended.

Another positive thing is that The Hobbit apparently have received green light, It was about time!

This is the funniest news I've heard all day. LOTR getting lost in the shuffle with titles like The Wizard of Oz. Are you kidding me?? I'm sure it's delayed but that thought is down right ludicrous.

yup. News doesnt affect me one bit. Sucks for the fans who wanted the theatricals in a couple of months, though. My heart goes out to you.
