I don't even consider the theatrical cuts as the "real" Lord of the Rings.
I will definitely only buy the extended versions of Lord of the Rings on blu ray.
If you ask me once you watched the extended cut you wouldn't really ever want to see the theatrical cut again.I'm really anxious to own all 3 movies in their extended form on blu ray,i can't wait to have them!!!

Cool Interpretation...

I know I may be in the minority here, but I want to see both versions of the movie, and will buy both if they are not made available on a single set via seamless branching. Just as the movies are an interpretation of the books (and by necessity had to leave some things out) each version of the movies (theatrical and EE) were made as unique interpretations for those particular audiences/venues.

I will wait as long as it takes for them to come out (I have plenty to watch in the meantime :~) as long as they are of the highest quality possible and with good extras (and preferably come out before my next Memorial Day viewing party).

I'm in the minority here too, but I would also like to have the theatrical cuts. Mostly for the running time. Sometimes I enjoy watching the theatrical, sometimes I enjoy watching the extended, depends on my mood that particular day. Now, if the eventual release of the trilogy had both, then that's great for everybody. But whatever gets released next year, I will be buying.

What if the EE cuts feature both through seamless branching?
I'll buy the theatricals for sure, I haven't seen the trilogy in a while.
This way it'll be "new" to me again and when the EE comes out it'll even be better!

Just release the three frakken movies individually and in a set. Like King Kong, have seamless branching so people can have both the Theater edition and EE in one package.

*Gasp* Putting the customer first? God forbid.

But Peter Jackson controls the EE cuts.
They'll be released in time with The Hobbit.

I'm pretty sure my household has triple-dipped already on the DVDs. What's another 4 or so versions on Blu?

Seriously, I'll bet half the "I won't buy it until out comes out in EE" guys will cave when the theatrical versions come out first (as they inevitably will), tiptoeing out to Best Buy under cover of darkness.

lol Probably, that's how it works, making people wait as long until they buy the first release.

But I will definitely not be buying multiple versions.
As I gave my reasoning before, it depends on how long it takes before everything comes out.
I can hold on to my Theatrical Edition DVDs and wait for the Extended on BD.
Or perhaps even a release with both, but I might have bought the "EE" before that happens.
Besides, it's not like "I need my fix right away!", you know. XD
There is plenty to watch before any "LOTR"-releases on BD.
Unless you insist it's your precious... 8|

IGN.com says in it's Blu Ray release date section that it is coming out on Blu Nov. 3rd. How true that is I don't know because I can't find it on Best Buys site.
