Never saw the extended editions but after all the fuss I am looking forward to spending a Saturday morning watching all 3 EEs. I have no desire to ever watch the standard versions again.
If the BDs are the theatrical version, I'll be spending my $$ elsewhere. |

I think you mean to say ". . .spending a Saturday watching. . ." as the total length of the Extended trilogy without credits or breaks is just over 11 hours.

I am proud to say that I have watched all three extended versions of LOTR. It was great. It was basically a 12 hour endeavor, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'd do it again, either on DVD or Blu-Ray (extended; skipping theatrical).
Off-topic: I'm hoping to get the Planet of the Apes box set to watch this weekend, just like the LOTR weekend. ![]() |

TLOTR movies is the best movies ever made period. i can't wait for this to come out. It must be the extended with flawless PQ and AQ. Would also be cool if both the theatrical and Extended is in the same blu ray set. A 2 disc set with the extended and theatrical. maybe a 3rd disc with all the cool extras and the awesome trailers. The trailers for these movies is absolutely flawless and it would so rock if they where on the discs as well in HD

My co-worker told me he did the marathon but I later found out he skipped through to all the action scenes so I stripped him of his rank.
I would watch the regulars on Blu but I will not buy until I get the extended versions. |

I only recently watched the trilogy. I couldn't muster the courage to sit through all three in one day especially since I have the extended versions. I can't wait to see what they're like in hi-def. The three movies really lived up to the hype for me.

(1) The "Fellowship Theme" is introduced too early when they play it at the very beginning during Bilbo's narration (i.e. there is no fellowship yet). (2) One of the best musical parts has been replaced when Galadriel gives Frodo the phial, right as they are leaving Lothlorien for the Great River. The theatrical release score has the choir singing with greater power and seriousness at this point compared to more mundane music of the EE. |
