I think we can rest assured that the PQ and AQ will be 4.5 to 5.0. King Kong was, reportedly, near perfect on HD-DVD. I'm sure PJ will approve the transfer, as important as these movies are to him.

PS. I'll buy whatever versions come out.

I hope they release both the theatrical and the EE on BLU. If they don't do that EE is definetely the right way to go

I'm just happy that Optimum Releasing aren't involved in this (???). As far as I could tell, all their UK releases were standard definition transfers. I fell into that trap with buying Escape From New York on Blu. But as I have that on DVD, I sold it on again without losing too much money. So for LOTR to be a true Blu-ray transfer is enough to make me grateful. TC or EE.

That's just about done, now. It was planned for this fall, silently pushed back, and now I think I heard something about september of next year.

Really? Cuz that NEVER happens in the us. Out of all the stuff I've heard about imports, this takes the cake. Seriously, I've never heard of that before(not in memory, anyway). Either way, LOTR most certainly will be tru-blu.

Thumbs up

I know we are looking forward th the day these are available in my house. PJ is probably one of the few that will have everything to push Blu to the limits. It will be a must own.

Ill wait for the extended edition unless current extended give out from over use. What they really should do is offer both edition in one package or separate at the same time.

I already double dipped with the slim EE and the Fat EE.

When I triple dip it better be EE.

I wonder if all the EE special features were shot in HD video cameras. I highly doubt it but one can hope.

You don't need HD cameras for content to be in high-definition. Film stock 16mm and up does the job just fine.

Yes you do, if you shoot on video. Those extras were not shot on film. So his question is perfectly valid, and I'd like to know the answer as well. If they were shot on HD cameras, it's likely they will be in HD on blu-ray.

It's about time this winter for another day devoted to all 3 EE. It'll be way fun now that my setup is finished. I can't wait though for them to come on blu. I really really hope they are the EE; I don't see any reason for them not to be (other than to take more of my money through double dipping..)

I remember hearing when the EE DVD sets first came out that the 16x9 bonus features had been shot in HD.
