All of them were Super35. The last 2 had a digital postproduction pipeline from beginning to end, where FOTR did not.

Again, that's not how it works.

There will be parts in which the flaws in the transfer are very apparent, other times it will not be noticeable (apart from just general softness) at all.

Its not like everyone will be walking around the entire movie looking as though they were molded out of clay. Those shots you've seen from the set where they do look like that (like that terrible Gandalph pic a page or so back) are most definitely in there and that is how it will appear, but that is not how everything will look throughout the entire movie.

My personal experiences in relation to Ken, Dave and Xylon when it comes to PQ is about 98% accurate on my front projection setup. While I have not seen these yet, I have no doubt that they ARE as bad as these extremely credible people have led us to believe (again this is from personal experience in relation to countless comparison threads/reviews)

I will find out for sure when I RENT these, but the only thing I expect to be impressive is the audio unfortunately

As far as these other reviewers praising the PQ, I dont put much if any weight in that since I am not familiar with these reviewers in general. I am however VERY familiar with Ken, Dave and Xylon and all are extremely credible and ~98% accurate from my personal experiences.

I have already given my opinion on Bills review. IMO I think Bill was being very generous in his final scores and I would not dismiss the possibility of politics considering his position in the blu ray world. Just my opinion though and some will disagree which is fine. I will say that I have MUCH more faith in Ken, Xylon and Dave as reviewers compared to Bill, but that is just me

The good screenshots still outweigh the bad ones for as far as I've seen though.
A whole bunch are impressive, a smaller bunch are... not good, for Blu-ray.

Weird horizontal line? Are you kidding? I have a 1080p display and there is nothing but reflections on the ring. And I don't see anything wrong with Frodo's eyes in the first one.

Well, than that is definately one Disney screwed up, but considering the long list of Warner titles that came with 5.1 Dolby only, I'll give them one hiccup.

I'd still take Disney's product over Warner any day of the week.

i'm sure the boards are going to blow up and kill us all when the 1st screen shots are posted and there's dnr and image retention and "god this looks like sh!t" color and then the comparisons to the original theatrical re-release are brought out!!!
