If you think you're so much better than the "VAST majority" of people in this forum, by all means, go find a site that fits your financial and technical demo.

Its the truth from my perspective........sorry you feel so threatened by what I said

I dont think I am better than anyone here............not sure how you pulled that out of what I said We are all at different levels as far as equipment, tolerance to PQ issues, experience, etc.........I dont see anyone as being any better than anyone else, but it is useful if you can find someone who has similar equipment and viewing tolerances compared to yourself which was my main point........Maybe you should not read my posts if you truly feel that threatened?

What do you guys think? i mean, i have seen the extended cuts and found myself getting bored due to the length. Also, can someone please upload a picture of the slip cover and inside cases, i know there were a couple floating around here at some point.

Oh I am not threatened Todd, believe me. If that's what you think after reading my post, your condescending tone simply continues.

So who's watching ROTK tonight on TBS? I've been DVRing bits and pieces of FOTR and TTT to try my hand at exact, scientific comparisons of the BDs. As long as they look as good as the HD broadcasts, I'll be satisfied. Hopefully they're better.

Anxious to see everyones' reviews on Tuesday.

Your post cleary had a "I feel threatened" vibe, and sorry you feel that way. I am having a discussion just like you. Its OK if we dont agree........I am not going to ask you to find another forum just because we have a different opinion/perspective Maybe you should throw me on your ignor list if you cant handle my posts.

LOL. Get overself Todd. I'm not threatened by a poster in a blu-ray discussion thread on the internet. It's hilarious you think you're threatening.

To get this back on track, anyone know where to get this sucker early? I saw someone saw them early in San Antonio -- anyone else had any luck?

well the only evidence i have is that i've watched the fellowship on my 40" ISF calibrated 1080p bravia twice now.. and i sit less than 2 times screen with away.. i have no vested interested in proclaiming the transfer to be great if its not.. its just amazing me how many people are trashing the transfer based on screenshot comparisons between a HD broadcast and the blu-ray... i'd like to discuss the transfer with people who have actually watched it regardless of tv size etc.. i have over 200 blu-rays.. so i think i can tell a poor quality one from a good one at this stage..

If all we had were a bunch of useless (for the most part) uneducated user reviews, I could go along with your theory as a strong possibility, but considering the sources of disappointment, that is clearly not the case, not even a chance IMO.

I will say this though, if I was viewing this on a 50" or smaller set, at more than 2.0 screen widths away, I would not even waste an ounce of energy worrying about these issues since viewing on that small a screen at that view range will not reveal the issues to the VAST majority of users who dont know any better (which fits MANY is this forum). If you fit this description, hell go enjoy the films as I know I would

Get over myself (I assume that is what you meant to say)? How about contributing something useful to what I said either disagreeing or agreeing instead of telling me to go find another forum? Is that the best argument you have since you clearly dont agree with what I said which is ok?

And I find it sad that you feel threatened by what I said which you obviously do considering your response........

Try Walmart if you are looking to get this early as there have been a few reports I have read around of people being able to get them there. I thought Walmart was pretty good about not putting things out until release day, but apparently a few people have found it there.

Also, Best Buy for me will sometimes screw up and put out catalog titles early, check there.

You only have a 40" TV? LOL. Do they even MAKE TVs that small anymore!?

I appreciate your fresh take on it. I'll be happy to compare notes on Tuesday night. I plan to get through FOTR and hopefully TTT that night.

I'm not even kidding, if I didn't to take 2 depositions on Tuesday, I'd stay home and watch them all that day and work from home.

Because the great all mighty eric.exe showed screencaps that IMO were rigged! I have the set and compared his screen caps to the bd's. I put the movie on pause at a couple of his screencaps and I have to say it doesn't look as bad as his screencaps appear.

That is totally fair Mick, but to imply that the reason for the "hating" by those who dont agree with your assessment is due to some sort of "anger" because these are not the EEs is ridiculous IMO which is what your post was implying that I referred to. Clearly that is not the case when you consider the credibility of some of those who have claimed these to be disappointing.

LOL - yes that's exactly what I meant to say. Glad we're operating on the same wavelength...

I appreciate the suggestions. I've never had any luck with my Best Buy. Maybe I'll try Wal-Mart. After spending 4 hours in the yard today, though, I'm pretty sure I'm not getting out of this couch today.
