Someone has told me that it'll be 5 bucks for the steelbook in the store tues, but Best Buy employees cant confirm this and it's not in the weekly ad. To make matters worse, only one Best Buy in my area of New Orleans has the steelbooks. I cant run in the store during the day because of my work schedule! What should I do?!?

Thanks,
Brian
The steelbook is FREE, it comes with a $5 pre-order for the 3 movie set.

Umm, I think what he meant was that if they were to only release the theatrical edition of Star Wars, he wouldn't buy it.

With all the people on Amazon complaining that these are not the EEs, what motivation does Warner have to make these better? None.

It must be a site glitch, I would just try to pre-order it in store then.

But they still have to release them seperately in stores. You think they will use the same master?

I saw it; hard to judge because it looked like the material was cropped.

And trailers often look like crap on Blu-rays for some reason.

I'd say that, with the exception of Disney.

The picture quality on these boxsets is much better than the Dvd's full stop, but if you are watching on a smaller screen then the difference may appear much less,i have two very different set up's in my livingroom i have a 32 inch Sony and a Ps3,and in my cinema room a Infocus IN82 and Pioneer BDP-09FD using a 108 inch screen.

On the 32 inch t.v i can still tell the difference between a Blu-ray and Dvd quite easily, but upscaled Dvd's are still very good on this,so i can see peoples point when they say the difference is not that much, but as i say the Blu-ray discs still look a lot better to my eyes.

On the 108 inch screen however Dvd's start to look very poor, and the difference between the two is a lot greater,in fact i do not watch any Dvd's on this system, unless it is to compare,as i have been doing with these movies.

Not to mention the constant reminders that you're watching a blu-ray disc. I hate the blu-ray ads on the discs. I don't need reminding of how awesome blu-ray is. If I did, I wouldn't be watching a BD right now, would I?

Default DTS MA 5.1, or 6.1?

I had read earlier that the trilogy was getting 6.1 transfer; it says 5.1?

Something about the 6th channel not being discreet or some such, not the most technical guy.

Just going back over this thread since i last looked, there are some interesting points raised.

The Lord of the rings boxset is no where near in the same league as Gladiator release in my opinion,Gladiator has a lot of the same problems it's Dvd release had ie a lot of edge enhancement and poor use of Dnr,on the Blu-ray they have just ported it over and added more.

Also a good point "Todd" came up with was that perhaps people who had bought this set had seen the bad reviews,so on watching the movies were surprised that the quality was a lot better than they were expecting,so in effect the reviews had lowered their expectations in some way,but there is a flipside to this point that the people watching these movies were looking for faults more as they had seen bad reviews,so it could also confirm the quality is not as bad as people say.As i buy Blu-ray's for their quality i do not think i have been giving these transfers an easy ride,as there are quite a few Blu-ray's i have watched and thought the picture was not good enough and put on Amazon for sale,i tried this with Gladiator but no one will buy it !!!,damn these threads.

As for these "Glowing" scenes in Fellowship, the one i noticed was the opening intro where they show the rings being forged and given out,but as this was supposed to have happend a long time ago so i thought it looked part of the film to me,its the same on the Dvd.
