I'm mid-way through FOTR and I wanted to hop on here and share my thoughts, as I've been pretty vocal recently.

I think it looks great. Blows away the HDTV broadcast in my eyes.

I'm very satisfied, and I'm glad I didn't miss out on this based on other peoples' opinions and a bunch of speculation by others (like myself) who hadn't yet seen it for themselves.

Excited to make it through TTT later tonight.

Looking forward to developing this discussion with people who have actually seen it. We have officially beaten to death the debate of the "professional" reviewers. It's our turn now, for better or worse.

That's why there's really no point at all to someone just sharing their opinion about the image quality *unless* they also share their display size and viewing distance.

This is all assuming the viewer(s) know what DNR is (as well as other issues) and looks like in the first place which a lot of people dont.

Ah, I forgot why I actually logged in.

Who is the actor that was supposed to play Aragorn that bowed out or was replaced at the last minute?

Of course you do. You are sitting 37 yards away from a postage stamp sized TV.

Let us know haw TTT looks.

Yes but from this distance it looks incredible! Plus, I can almost hear it.

And on that note, the audio truly is incredible.

I'm just wondering how you know these 2 have really small TV's? Still, you always make funny comments and usually try to lighten things up!

i haven't watched it yet but i got an incredible deal using my BB reward zone points that i've been saving up. I got:

LOTR trilogy
LOTR animated
Brutal Legend (Xbox)

$41.97 including tax

I'd say that was a damn good buy no matter how it looks (which i'm hearing isn't that bad)

Of course, i'll get back to this thread once i have watched at least the 1st 20 minutes of each film; then i'll post a quickie review!

He's joking, although with mine he's entirely correct.

And as I've learned in this thread, it's not the size that matters; it's what your viewing angle is.

A person with a 20" can have just as enjoyable experience as a person with a 100", if you're sitting at the right place.

I've read the entire thread and both of them publicly admitted to having wimpy tools.

That was spit my water out my nose funny. Thanks.

And my teasing is mostly directed at the whole size issue, not your set, I'm sure you know.

By the way, I don't find myself missing the additional scenes from the EE at all, and those were the only versions I ever bought on DVD. Maybe I'll miss the ones from TTT and ROTK more...
