I bet all the people who complained on amazon or the PQ bought the Lord of the Rings Trilogy today.

"The Two Towers" has much more detail thus far. I am sitting 6 feet away from a 50" Plasma.

I agree with those ("Fellowship of the Ring") who said it was softer in some spots than others. It was far from terrible.

If one is looking for perfection, one might as well stop buying movies. No such thing exists.

So, it works out the same. That is the first time I had an issue. Two different reps had the same "issue" computer wise.

Starting "The Two Towers" now. I am one happy camper.
I'm glad you got them to do it! They are generally very very good in the customer service department, but I've noticed they've become a little more hesitant with the pre-order guarantee, even when purchases fall under their requirements for the program. I am glad they offer it and I do love my Amazon!!!

Too bad my LOTR set is somewhere in shipment, and there's no tracking up yet....so it's going to be a while for me

People on Amazon? Sure, more than "some" most likely. Amazon ratings are usually ridiculous and aren't really indicative of anything.

I'm just saying those people aren't really complaining about the legitimate deficiencies in the PQ of Fellowship, they're using anything they can as a disguise to piss and moan about the cut of the movie that's being released, I don't think anyone in this thread is doing that - I thought that's what he was referring to (people in this thread along with this site's offical reviewer, Highdefdigest, IGN, etc.) I know I'm not, I had this preordered, now I'm just going to rent it and hope they redo the DI for the EE release (and in the off chance they re-release the remastered theatricals along with it I'll buy those too.)

If you want to see how ridiculous Amazon's rating system (slightly LotR related since it's fantasy) can be look up Robert Stanek's books on Amazon. Read the reviews, then google "Robert Stanek + fraud."

I might've missed it, have you seen this release yet? If so, have you had a chance to watch all 3?

Certainly you're not basing your conclusions about the release on other peoples' opinions...

That's like me saying the Packers are good after reading a newspaper article about the game, or that Rubber Soul is the Beatles' best album after reading a review of it.

I watched FotR today and with my ignorantly blissful eyes didn't find fault with the picture. I saw some soft spots here and there but I've never been an opponent of soft images. I love the look of Superman Returns. I'm just so damn glad these movies are on BD.

I believe effort when into this release. Whether you or others like the release as presented, is another matter. I am not a rabid biased fan mind you. I believe in being objective and basing my comments of the release on what I am able to see on my particular setup, which may or may not be what others here have. I also think that many of the extreme reviews, whether for or against, are misleading and wrong.

Different though, those are completely subjective.

It's more like saying Norwegian Wood has a completely different mono mix. How much you like it is up to you, that doesn't change the fact that the mono mix is different.

DNR being applied to Fellowship is not subjective, it is a fact. How much it affects you is a matter of opinion.

The legitimate PQ "deficiencies" of the first movie are not a matters of opinion, they exist - period. That is not a matter of opinion, how much they color your viewing of the movie is. It's the difference between saying "I think Favre played well" and saying "Favre threw 3 TD's and 1 INT."

The faults this site's official review point out exist; and yes, how much they affect one's viewing experience is completely a matter of perception. No one is claiming otherwise.

Edit: I really should run this shit through a spell checker before I post it, Christ.

Interesting take, I hear ya.

I still think it's silly to form an opinion based on someone else's conclusions.

If you told me "Favre threw 3 TDs and 1 INT," I'd check the facts. Maybe, just maybe, you're wrong. And maybe he threw the one INT in overtime to lose the game. Or maybe he rushed for 150 yards and ran for another score.

Point being: you might've left something out of your analysis. Again, I'll review the facts and decide for myself what they mean to me.
