Anyways, just curious.
Gandalf tells Frodo not to use the Ring in the movie and the book. In the book, when Frodo put the Ring on to get away from Boromir, Gandalf saved him by saying (mentally, as he was in Lothlorien) to take it off. "Take it off! Fool! Take it off! Take off the Ring!"

These Theatrical Cuts are REALLY tempting but I still have to say no and hold out for the EE boxset.

I gotta go buy a different box set to take my mind off of these. Maybe I will get The Undisputed Rocky Collection...

That sounds awesome.
So hobbits are nothing but fools to Gandalf then?
Speaking of fools, I just love the "fly you fools!" scene, powerful!

Gandalf is somewhat grumpier in the book that he is in the movies.

So he's a more sympathetic character in the movies?

If so did hardcore fans notice?

Hahaha, hardcore fans (I was and still am of the books) noticed a lot of things.

Look up "one ringers," or "ringers."

I did not get around to watching my Lord of the Rings Blu-rays on Tuesday. I did watch all of the bonus dvds on monday and tuesday. I have Thursday and Friday off so maybe I will try to watch all 3 films on one of those days. I am thinking about watching them all on Thursday.

Trust me, if you buy that box set, you will definitely be disappointed.

I posted some screenshots of LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring over in the screenshots forum.

Here is the Link

Overall, it was a mixed bag. I had a hard time finding sharp detailed shots.

I really had no issues with the set other than it not being the EEs. I've seen better transfers but I've also seen much worse.

Those look good. I watched a few minutes of chapter 2 and it looked pretty good to me. I work 12 hours starting in about 6 hours from now, but I got thursday and friday off, can't wait to watch this trilogy on blu-ray.

Yeah, I'm holding out, too. I don't have any problems with this set at all except for the fact that they're the theatrical versions. I'm just gonna bide my time with the EE DVDs until they hit blu-ray.

Took the plunge and bought the trilogy from Futureshop for $5.99 (used a $50 gift card).
I rarely watch bonus features or deleted scenes in movies so holding out for the EE never even crossed my mind. This will be my first time watching LOTR (that's right, I've never seen it) so I'm pretty stoked to see what all the fuss is about.

the way I look at it is - these freakin movies are long enough the way it is...plus some of the scenes that they cut out from the theatrical edition are probably not very good any way (It's happened in so many other movies) and that's why the director decided the leave them out

so to me this version is "extended" enough

I finally purchased the LOTR Blu Ray at Walmart (I got the last one, there was 3 total)

I went back tonight & price matched it with the Best Buy ad. I about got it for $19.99.

I gave the ad to the cashier & she put on her glasses trying to find the ad's date. I showed her the page that said "New Releases available on April 6th".

She saw "The Lord of the Rings Original Animated Classic" on Blu Ray for $19.99 & was about to ring it up as such, but I pointed to the $59.99 LOTR Blu Ray (I know, I am an honest man).
