He was still able to resist the ring in the end.
I know he was different in the books.

Faramir: Atlast we understand one another Frodo Baggins.

Some guy: If you let them go, your life will be forfeit.

Faramir: Then it is forfeit.

Yeah I guess in the movies, both sons of Denethor II were willing to give up their lives so Frodo could accomplish his mission. Kind of proves Denethor wasn't always the kooky old man you see in RoTK.

My favorite scene is Gandalf's arrival at the Golden Hall and the transformation of Theoden. I laugh every time when Gandalf winks at Aragorn.

I told you to take the wizard's staff! I would hold still if I were you.

"Ill news is an ill guest."

Grima was awesome in two towers.

In the book, theoden was actually giving him choice, either to fight with them in the upcoming battle or go anywhere he wants.

BTW

Witch King pwning Gandalf the white = Worst scene in the trilogy.

Yeah, you and I both know I would take you in a fight. I've actually heard rumors that after he was revived, Gandalf may have been powerful enough to defeat Sauron but wasn't allowed to try because their battle could destroy Middle Earth.

I also heard that Saruman was once powerful enough to defeat Sauron.

In this thread. I and others, who are famililar with Tolkien's writings, have pieced that together. If you look at other posts by me in this thread, you should be able to find the info. It was related to our hatred of the scene in the EEs where the Witch-King knocked Gandalf off his horse. Tolkien would have had a fit if he were alive.

Why did the tokester give them almost the same names ? gets confusing.

Couldve called them saruman & finklestein.

I have all ways thought that Sauron and Saruman were to close for my liking, hell it confused me at first.

Maybe Sauron and Scaramenga.....

The name Saruman is derived from "searu", which means clever or skilled, and therefore the name means "Man of Skill".

Sauron originates from the Quenya Elvish term "saura", which means "abhorred". In Sindarin Elvish, he was known as Gorthaur, the "Cruel".

But finklestein means "way badder than frankestein"....so he couldve gone down that road as well.

No it's not. It's completely contrary to other parts of the story and to what, and who, Gandalf was. I'm hoping Jackson will get a good dose of common sense and edit that scene to match the books.

Did any of you Rings fans here watch the fan films Born of Hope and The Hunt for Gollum? What did you think of them? I thought they were worthy companion pieces to the Jackson films, especially BoH.
