It would be cool if these had the different colored cases, like the original DVDs did

That would be cool. How about "slim" slipboxes? Just like The Wizard of Oz 3-disc Emerald Edition slipbox. I just hope WB/New Line will do something wild for these single releases.

They sure didn't do anything special for the trilogy but I guess they were just trying to help collectors save space.

WB/New Line did a terrible job on the trilogy package. They could have done a better job. We'll see what they will do with these releases.

Holding out hope that individual releases means we will finally get single American steelbooks for these.

I still think the box set costs too much, still. I thought the point of box-sets was to reduce the cost per movie.

Amazon.com' price is 68.49 (rounded up to $72 for shipping = $24
Best Buy will cost you $90 = $30 per movie

Too much. I'll let them work on the price before I purchase. I want a $15-17 maximum per movie.

They do have plans. They haven't announced them yet, because those plans probably coincide with The Hobbit films getting off the ground.

Yeah I'm sick of them saying they want us to wait till the Hobbit when the movie isn't even greenlit and will take years for it to even come out at that. They should have skipped the theatrical editions and just given us both or the extended versions at the same time.

Yeah, I've heard. That's the point. We haven't heard anything about the extended editions because they're still a LONG way off. It's the same with the Bond movies. They won't release anymore on Blu until the next movie gets made.

I was rather hoping we could get 10th anniversary editions of the extended versions (with new transfers, obviously) but that isn't going to happen. I don't have any interest in the poor quality theatrical versions of Fellowship or Towers, and zero interest in the theatrical version of King in any format. It will be a long wait, but worth it.

How can it be a 10 year anniversary release when the third film was released in theatres in 2003? 2013 is definitely possible still, I wouldn't get too disappointed just yet.

Releasing the Extended Editions in 2011 for the 10-year anniversary of Fellowship of the Ring would be a totally awesome idea. (Not to menton that's the same year Star Wars comes out on Blu-ray... nerd-gasm!!). I hope we don't have to wait too too long though, and I hope they don't make us wait until the Hobbit comes out because, let's face it, who knows when that's gonna happen =/

And I'm one of the few that actually doesn't mine owning both the theatrical versions and the Extended Editions on Blu-ray, so bring on the Extended Editions!

Oh and I really like the packaging they used for the trilogy, all three movies, six discs in one case that's only slightly thicker than a regular Blu-ray case (unlike Disney who gives us a thicker-than-a-DVD case for their three or four-disc combo packs )

Technically the 10th anniversary for Fellowship EE is 2012

EE's for '11? I doubt it, but there is hope since so many Amazon members gave the Theatricals 1 star on Amazon. Many didn't fall again for the double dip. I look forward to the day that the EE's will grace my Blu-ray shelf. I have a feeling it won't be for a while though.

Time sure does fly eh? Cant believe it has been almost ten years already. I seen the three movies on bluray and for the most part they were a cheap convert to bluray. I am hoping when they release the extended versions on blu they take the time to properly master them this time.
