did anyone pick up the LOTR movies from walmart today????? they had a sticker on them saying they were a DVD and Blu ray combo pack Only sold at Walmart. was this the special features on DVD or were they including the feature film on DVD as well (a 3 disc per film set so to say like Disney)

well, to answer my own question. I picked up a set for a friend to see the difference. it appears that the walmart versions forgo the special features disc and replace it with the feature film disc from the dvd set

Is the Special Features DVD the same as the Special Features DVD included in the theatrical DVD release?

boring" details? maybe for other movies, but the LOTR's extended scenes are anything but boring. they are full segments that contribute much to the plot. just because you are trying to justify the regular cuts cuz there on bluray doesnt meant they are better. the EE's kick the TE's ass.

Yeah, just from memory, you get added scenes to the fight in Moria, PLUS a final resolution to Saruman's fate.

I liked how the inclusion of relatively short segments in the EE added to the impact of the story, such as Aragorn's pause at his mother's grave in Rivendell prior to the Fellowship's departure.

Essentially the same. They actually removed some outdated video game trailers from the bonus discs. I popped the discs into my DVD-ROM and the files were dated this or last year.

have not seen the trilogy but i think they are the same
i got the single release versions and i think they look outstanding, much better than all the reviews i have read.
I believe the only difference between the trilogy and the single releases is that the trilogy comes with digital copies.

There's no difference in the box set and individual releases. The same masters, encodes, and audio were for each.

Picked up the individual releases from Wal-Mart, which includes a DVD copy of the movie instead of the extras disc. Here's the disc art:

[Show spoiler]

So yeah, same exact discs from the boxset.

Well I exchanged The Two Towers and Fellowship of the Ring with Amazon, and the replacements came back with the same issue - digital copies instead of Special Features.

Is there a customer service email for New Line or Warner Bros?
