im a little OCD when it comes to watching trilogies like this and pirates of the caribbean
i have to watch them in order
if i am going to watch one i am going to watch them from the first to the last and all within a couple of days
thats why i wait until i have a few days with enough free time to watch these movies
I watch all three EE movies immediatly back to back without break except food and bathroom every December. Only time I watch them a year. Keeps them something to look forward to.

i couldnt go an entire year without watching them

i like to have atleast 2 or 3 months separating viewings though
so that its been a while since i've seen them, i tend to enjoy them even more then

this past weekend was my second viewing of the year
next will be around july or august probably, then when the blu-rays hit my player

I work a little differently than you folks here. I watch the movie once fully and then go on to watch only the best scenes (battle scenes ) in the next viewing. I guess it has to do with how much free time I can scrape up.

Maybe I'm stupid, but what does OCD mean?

Otherwise, i'll probably wait for the EE.
Or.....maybe I'll double dip. I don't know yet. Maybe I ask my wife to give them to me. ..

Lot's of maybe's We'll see when the time is right.

Ciao.

FWIW...

amazon.de has now a release date of November 27 for the Blu-ray of The Return of the King (yes, somehow it's just been listed separately).

That gives us November 17 or November 24 as the likeliest dates for a US release.

Greetings,

3. A more intelligent "cross-promotion" scheme would be to use the EE releases to put out the first early trailers for The Hobbit. And the best way to do that would be to release the EE of each film separately over the period between the release of TEs and The Hobbitt.
That is the most logical thing i have read to date on this....

What i think should be done is release the EE's with no frills, extras or anything a couple months after the TE are released, then release a full blown version with the EE and TE, extras and such just before the hobbitt comes out. I really have no desire to pay a premium for all the extra's in a EE version of the release.( presuming that is the case)...... I just want the EE movies.

The series is over, Jackson won't return to helm the final book, and I wonder if he's as connected to the fanbase as he once was, because now it looks like he's taking them for granted. The Peter Jackson of 2002, needing support and continued success to complete the trilogy, never would have risked angering his fan base with a similar decision.
What are you talking about? PJ have said that he is saving the ultimate version for BD, which is the EE version, until The Hobbit is close to being released. How is that not advanced warning to fans? As I recall, when the theatrical release was announced - and not released - on DVD, he told the LOTR film website that the EEs are coming close to the TT. So again, how can you NOT say that he didn't give advanced warning? The only thing he didn't do is specify concrete dates for the EE edition.

Seriously, if you can't figure out what his warning is : "This BD is the theatrical version. The EE will come about the time The Hobbit is released."

He and the Kurrti-Pellerin company have also said that there's so much more behind-the-scenes stuff they haven't released that didn't even make it to the Theatrical-EE Seamless Branching Special Editions. This includes the outtakes that have never been seen.

Quote:
Jackson would never have made this decision in 2002.
Obviously. There was no BD back then.

Ya I would bet a lot that that's what's going to happen. Theatrical version will be first. Hope I'm wrong though....

Has there been any word on what the extras will be?

Amazon has this listed for release in October and the product description indicates it will be a 7 disc set, assuming each movie will have their own disc that leaves 4 discs of extra material... unless they do what they didi with the extended editions and break the movie in two discs... that would be a shame IMO
