And TNTHD passed over cable is not 1080p blu-ray quality.
I didn't think that any TV station broadcasted in 1080p yet.

They don't, and that's my point. Even if they did, the signal passed by satellite and cable are low bandwidth.

The point is......rent or watch in 1080i until the REAL versions get released. Be strong.....so the studios that you are not sheep and will to bend over at the drop of a dime....

Nobody should be to cheap to double dip on the LOTR. And for the record its not even a double dip because its first Theatrical and then Extended will be released so its 2 different releases alltogether. There has been way worse double dips then this. And besides its freakin LOTR man !

Everyone should be cheap! Its not the release its the principal. All studios AT THIS LATE DATE should not be trying to suck every last dime from us. Its time to release this right the first time period! There are NO EXTRAS that tehy can add to make an EE release better. The bottom line is they want to throw you over the hood of a car and have their way with you....not once but twice!

eventually it will be on HDNET movies or something without commericals.

in some of our opinions they are releasing it right the first time
i've never seen the EE, i wan't the TE's
i dont care about a 5 discs of extras, and this release won't have that

they DID get it right the first time

just because they didn't release what you want or what you consider the "right" version first doesn't mean everyone else feels the same way

Its not about being cheap, its about knowing what you want and having self dicipline to wait and get that.......I know if I wasted ~$70 on the TEs that they would get a 1-2 time a year viewing until the EEs come out at which point I WOULD NEVER WATCH THE TEs AGAIN. For somebody in my shoes, buying the TEs makes NO SENSE, but renting makes 100% complete sense which is what I plan to do. Rental discs look and sound IDENTICAL to bought discs When the real EEs come out, I will buy those day 1.

Who cares who likes what. Can't we all just get along. We already know that people who like the EE's are going to cry for the next 2-3 years and people who don't mind buying the TE's are happy. End of story. Let's move on to new things, this thread is getting useless and boring.

The series is over, Jackson won't return to helm the final book, and I wonder if he's as connected to the fanbase as he once was, because now it looks like he's taking them for granted. The Peter Jackson of 2002, needing support and continued success to complete the trilogy, never would have risked angering his fan base with a similar decision.

But there it is. He's off on The Lovely Bones and a CGI Tintin movie. And he may no longer have the same control over the home video releases as he once did when New Line was kissing his perdel. But regardless, the fact remains. Jackson would never have made this decision in 2002.
He is actually still very connected to his fanbase, Jackson himself is supervising the EE transfers to Blu as was announced on theonering.net many months ago. WB are the ones pushing the theatrical down our throats right now, so it is either a take it or leave it type deal, either buy it or don't but ppl really need to stop complaining. Personally no I will not Quadruple dip on these movies not with the current state of the economy.

If WB really wanted to be fair, they'd give us a release date of the EE's before the TE's are released. And make the difference a year or less.

And Diesel, I'm glad you said "opinions" because it's your opinion that the TE's are "right". I would just like to point out that those of us who are of the opinion that the EE's are the "right" editions share that opinion with Peter Jackson himself.

But then you go on to say, "they DID get it right the first time", which is just not factual.
