Amid the flurry of Disney+ announcements made Friday at D23, a none-to-small detail emerged about the new streaming service: Sources confirm for TVLine that Disney+ episodes will be released on a weekly basis, versus the all-at-once “binge” model often employed by rivals.

Thanks yes. This is good, but when the debunked charts are being quoted by such otherwise reliable sources, it's a big step backwards.

From the article:
Florian Friedrich: "Some people say you need to sit 60 cm away from a 65-inch TV in order to see the resolution of 8K. Some people say you need binoculars at normal viewing distances to see a benefit compared to 4K or even Full HD. Both are terribly wrong. I knew I had to go after these prejudices, because the prejudices fundamentally conflicted with what I could see."

Sounds good, doesn't it? He's very highly respected - but no! He just goes on to do a different calculation, with the implication that the new calculation is "correct"

"Friedrich did not mention that human vernier resolution -- the ability to detect slight misalignment in two line segments -- is ten times more sensitive than standard visual acuity as measured by the classic Snellen chart or one of its variants"

One step forward, two steps back?

best believe what you see, not necessarily word for word of what anyone selling a product tells you

Disney is using its D23 fan expo to announce lots of details about its upcoming Disney+ streaming video service, which will throw in 4K content and up to 4 simultaneous streams at no extra cost.

The company said that the service will offer 4K Ultra HD video playback with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10 and Dolby Atmos audio on supported devices for available programming. Disney+ will also allow subscribers to concurrently stream video content on up to four registered devices.

These features are all included at the $6.99-per-month price that Disney+ will carry when it launches on Nov. 12. In contrast, Netflix only offers HD content and up to two simultaneous streams with its most popular plan, the Standard tier that charges $12.99 per month. Subscribers have to upgrade to the $15.99-per-month Premium plan to get 4K and up to four simultaneous streams.

To be honest, there was a bit of Hollywood dramatic embellishment involved because, unbeknownst to social media, the naval aviator doesn’t whip the throttle forward as the catapult fires. But hey, Top Gun: Maverick is not a documentary. Movies about the teams (Seal), firemen, cops, doctors, lawyers, etc. commonly take creative license; otherwise, the motion picture would be rather mundane.

I was ready when the season ended last Feb.

Keeping things all Top Gun related notice the use of fighter jets and air craft carriers.
